it was bid up to $1500 from like $65 in like 10min. I dont see how a 396 car that clean could possible be $4900. The buy it now thing is only in the descpition to get you're attention, you cant actually buy it now. I bet it will go way over $4900, lyin b-stard.

Sounds too good to be true
Someone from Canada should contact him and ask to see it in person . That would solve the mystery .

Darn nice Camaro! Though, the low bid price with no reserve is suspicious and this person is too new to have any history. Going to have to watch this one...

I sent him an e-mail asking some questions and where I could see and drive the car.
I want to see what he says . May have to get Tim ( Dubie) to take a look at it .

Come on... you know he will pull it if it doesnt come close to his price. $4900 is a gimmick.

I SEE TWO THINGS WRONG WITH IT: 1) IT ONLY HAS AN A/M RADIO , AND 2) MOST IMPORTANTLY, THE A/C COMPRESSOR IS MISSING FROM WHAT I CAN TELL IT'S ALSO POSSIBLE THAT IT'S NOT A MATCHING NUMBERS ORIGINAL.I DIDN'T SEE ANY REFFERENCE TO THAT AT ALL.

Maybe this misguided soul is a board member from the great white north and took all of our american/canadian currency exchange jokes seriously. He/she probably thinks $4900 US is a small fortune in CDN funds.
(I know it was lame, but still...something fishy's going on here).

HA HA - Here is the email I got from them. The crappy part is someone will probably fall for this and lose 5K.
Hello there ! I'm very glad that you like my car and I can only say that you have good taste about cars! The price is 4900$US!!! I want you to find my terms from the start and if you agree them and complete the transaction, I will arrange a private auction between me and you to use the buy now option for the records and for feedback. I bought this car from US and it was rided only within US. It was registrated in US and I had all the services done there. The car was never crushed, droped or raced. I took care of it like it was my own baby and now is in the same condition as it was when I bought it - even better!. The thing is that almost 5 months ago, I made that step - I got married !!! My wife is from Germany and we decided to move there. My kid was born a week ago here in Lisabona and, as a fresh daddy I can't find the time to ride the car anymore. Yes, I brought the car here in Lisabona. I wanted to register the car here, but when I found out how much paper work I must do to register it here, only to rided once a month or less ... simply I gave up and decided to sell it and buy a car here (a family weagon is a must now).I even decided to support all the shipping charges in order to make a smooth deal for this car. I will use Luftchansa Air Cargo for shipping, so you will be able to receive it in 3-4 working days (depending on your exact location). The car will be crated, will have an insurance and will be delivered at your door without you beeing charged one penny more. As soon as I have your firm decision that you want to buy, I will take the car to Luftchansa and pay all the taxes for the shipping including the insurance and the custom fees. Along with the car, I will send you all the documents that I have for the car - the title (wich is issued in USA, is clear of any leins and I have it in hand). Due the fact that the car's title was issued in USA you will have no problem in registering the car and you won't have to pay any custom fees. All you have to do is go with cash to a Western Union office and complete a "To Send Money" form. As receiver's address you must use my Name:Sarah Reynolds Address: Rua da Assuncao, 69 zip code:1100 044 city: Lisabona country: Portugalia and as for receiver name, you must use a name of your prefferance : your father's name, your best friend's name or any name you can think of. Right after you make the transfer, you must send me the details of the transfer : - exact MTCN (Money Transfer Control Number, it is a 10 digits number, that will help me to track the money online) - exact sender name - exact receiver name - exact transfer fees, in case that the car is not as expected (but I am sure you will love the car, and I will have to return you the transfer fees) (I nead those informations so I can check if the transfer was made and I can verify that on Western Union's office). After I will have the confirmation of the payment, I will call Luftchansa and give them my approval to send you the car imediatly. Right after, I will send you the tracking number from FedEx so you can track the car in its way to you. After you will receive the car you will have 5 days for inspection. You can take the car to a Service to be sure that everything is in order or you can bring over a mechanic to look over the car.If is there something wrong with the car you can retreive your money from Western Union, the car will be shipped on my expenses back to Lisabona and I will return you the transfer fees. If you decide to keep the car, you must change the receiver name into my name so I can be able to cash the money. Why this procedure? Because : 1. Western Union is a global leader in money transfer and message services, with a history of pioneering service dating <http://toolbar2.i-lookup.com/cgi-bin//ezlclk.fcgi?id=20> back more than 150 years and it continues today to help consumers and businesses securely transfer money or make payments using money orders and other electronic systems. Consumers can quickly and easily transfer money to more than 150,000 Western Union Agent locations in over 190 countries worldwide - the largest network of its kind. 2. The money will be deposited at Western Union on the name you chose and can NOT be retrieved (except by you) until you change the receiver name into my name 3. This way I can have the guarantee that you have the money and that you are ready to buy the car 4. I will support the shipping charges and you will support the transfer fees (You will have to pay some fees there at Western Union : 6% - 8% from the total amount - this depends on your exact location also) - I think this way is fair. Very important! When you'll make the transfer, do NOT tell to Western Union that you are makeing a payment for a purchase, because they will charge us both. When you will change the receiver name into mine so I can cash the money I will not receive the same amount you are sending, and I already support the shipping and insurance costs. Better tell them that you are sending the money for a relative of yours. This way, I think you will even pay lower fees. I hope you will agree this procedure and if so, contact me back with your exact shipping address, complete name and phone number (needed by Luftchansa air cargo). All my best!

Anyone dumb enough to bid on this thing without even sending the guy an email deserves to have their money taken away. After reading that email (broken engrish and all) you realize real quick this guy is trying to rip someone off. He's done everything he can to protect himself as the seller (including using the wrong names through a money courier who guarantees nothing), and nothing to guarantee the buyer they're getting anything in return. To really shake them up you could tell them you are going to contact an antique auto appraiser local to them to appraise the car, and like DennyB said tell them an Escrow company will hold the funds until the car is delivered and inspected.
Too bad it got deleted. It would have been fun to screw with this guy (a guy named "Sarah"?), who can't "ride" their car anymore.
