What does it really cost to get a pickup restored??

I was just wondering if any one would like to share with me what they have paid a professional to get their pickup restored. I need the info for a few troubles that I am going through right now. So any information would be greatly appreaciated. I am getting a 71 resoted completely, but I am having a few conflicts with the body shop and new to know some figures.

What one person calls restored,is not always the same as the next persons idea.It also depends on the shape of the starting vehicle.

I took the pickup im getting restored into the local body shop in january of 03 and had a frame off resto started. THe owner of the shop gave me a bid of 7500 to get the pickup done. The pickup was in good shape, no ruse on the box and the fenders were replaced and so were the rockers, cab corners and floor pans. I had aluminum tread plate installed in the box bed. The whole pickup is shaved and is gonna get painted with HOK paint. The only problem is that the body shop didn't send me a bill for over 10 months and the last bill I got was 7 times the original estimate. I need to find some info on what other people have paid to get things restored. you can email me at nek@.nvc.net if you don't want to post what you paid on here. ANy info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you all!

7 times the original estimate of 7,500 is $52,500 . I don't think he could be serious
