Whats up w/these axles?
Can someone shed some light on these differences in dana 44 axles. The axle on top I purchased recently and were supposed to be ''71 k10 dana 44 . The axle on bottom is out of the truck, that I am replacing. I'm pretty sure the front end I have was originally out of a ''71k5. Is this why there is a difference?

Get the BOM off both axles, and go to this. It will tell you what they are and what years they came out of.

Axles
The top axle is for a 19-- to 1969 Closed Knuckle diff. Your 71 will be open knuckle.
