Repro A-arms from LMC?
Has anyone bought the repro A-arms(upper or lower) from LMC? I'm needing a LH lower A-arm for my C-20 and want to know if these are any good. I can go to a junk yard and pull one, but these look to be assembled with everything except the rubber bumper. I heard the repro tailgates aren't any good, so just checking on these. Thanks, David

It really is a shame, but MANY reproduction parts are just junk, these days. It's all an enormous money game, and the cheaper they can make these parts, the more $$$ they make. I don't notice it so much with our trucks, but I'm also into VW's and the VW aftermarket is a really risky consumer's market. 95% of what is made or reproduced is junk. Personally, I'd have to have anything like that in my hands for examination, or have the glowing recommendation of someone I trusted, before I would think of laying my hard earned cash out for it. I'd much rather restore OEM parts, when possible. I don't have any experiences with the A-Arms, but there's quite a bit of cheap, imported junk in the LMC and Chevy Duty catalogs.

A-Arms
Try www.rockauto.com they carry Moog and Spicer suspension pieces. Follow the directions on the site. If you don't have a quick internet hookup it may load slow but once you get on the parts section you can find ANYTHING you would need, not cheap import crap but good quality parts.
I just checked on the site; Moog upper a-arms; #K6543, #K6545 - $32.79 ea. Moog lower a-arms; #K6553, #K6555 - 93.79 ea. They also carry AC Delco a-arms too. You can't get better than these. Dually Last edited by GMC1tondually4dr; 07-03-2004 at 11:12 PM. |

No, check the site, www.rockauto ,that is for the control arms alone. You need to put the rest of the pieces with them. Check the prices for cross shafts, ball joints and bushings. All Moog or AC Delco.
I used my truck '86 GMC 1 ton crewcab dually for an example, which is the most expensive pieces on the face of the earth Lower ball joint #45D2020 - $42.79 AC Delco upper ball joint #45D0021 - $53.79 AC Delco upper shaft kit #K6135 - 38.79 Moog Lower shaft kit #K6147 -45.79 Moog Put those prices and who and where they were made, against LMC's imported stuff and prices. If the prices for the Moog and Delco parts were the same or even more costly I would, and am going to put them under my truck. I am sure there are more sites with the same stuff for the same or cheaper. CarQuest's suspension parts are Moog for one. CC Dually Last edited by GMC1tondually4dr; 07-04-2004 at 04:18 AM. |

Thanks for all the replies. I'll check into rock auto. I have several junkyards around me, so I may do that route also. I'm not in any big hurry with my truck, but do miss driving it. I just completed a full body swap from another truck. While the body was off, I cleaned and painted the frame. That's when I found the bad LH lower A-frame. It's slowly coming back together. Thanks again, David
