I'm getting ready to restore a 1972 chevy truck. I'm not sure if i should paint, powder coat, undercoat, or what else the frame (chasis parts). I've gone to sevaral swapmeet/shows and find there are many options. What has worked for some of you all and what would you recommend I stay away from? Thanks...Ivan

On my Camaro subframes, I powdercoat all of them. On the trucks, go to a quality paint supply store and tell them what you want to do. I know PPG has some paint that is very hard and stands up well. Sounds like you plan to do the job right. Post some pics of the progress please.

Its up to how much $$ you want to spend.P/C would be the most,paint the least. If the truck is for show only P/C it. If not paint, easier to touch up.

When I get to do mine, I was going to use that do-it-yourself bedliner stuff you get at the hardware store. This will not be a show truck by any stretch of the imagination and I figure its fairly cheap and stronger and more durable than paint.

I dont really plan on making it strickly a show truck. I'd like for it to look "good as new", make it a weekend driver, and take it to an occasional show with other truck guys. Painting it is starting to sound like the "bang for the buck".
