How do I replace my fuse box panel??
Do I have to buy a wiring kit (painless ect) or is there a plug behind the panel that can just be unpluged and the panel can be swapped out.
The thing is I don't have any dash lights, and the dash lights section on the panel doesn't have power on either side of the fuse. My wiring skills are limited, but I would like some dash lights. I just don't think I want to have to rewire my whole blazer! Diane Sorry if this is a dumb question.... |

Most parts stores will sell just the the fuse panel (18 or 24 circuit usually). I think Painless has one on their website.

the place you have to check is the headlight switch wiring that is where the dash light power comes from to the fusepanel

one other thing is that to see voltage at the fuse for the cluster lights the headlight switch has to be "ON"

Does the wiring just unplug from the back of the fuse panel, or do you have to re-splice all the wiring...if so in that case I will probably just be better off to replace the whole harness....Yeech! CDowns- I am waiting on my friend with the volts meter to come over and check that. Thanks for the advice.

Seriously, the dash light fuse is dead until the headlight switch is pulled to the on position. Also, when using a test light or meter, be sure to turn the headlight knob back and forth to brighten and dim the dash lights. One way will read little power, the other way will read full power.
I bet it's your headlight switch rather than the fuse panel.
