CADILLAC 500ci Big Block...

What would be a good price for one? A guy I know has one that he's getting rid of. What should I offer him? What is it worth? And finally, will a TH400 bolt up to it?

Thanks

Well.... it depends on what it is. Is it rebuilt, low miles, a core? What's it out of?
Motors out of Eldorados can be worth a little more if they still have the rear sump oil pan.
Old running Cadillacs can be had for a little bit of nothing.
The last 500 I bought was complete from carb to pan and came with the long tail TH-400. It was out of a 75-76 Deville. I paid $350 for it.
A TH-400 will bolt up to it as long as it has a BOP bolt pattern.

What is a BOP bolt pattern? And what were the horsepower ratings on these motors?

BOP = Buick Olds Pontiac. The horsepower ratings vary wildly depending on the year it was produced (thanks to smog equipment). I believe the BHP topped out at around 350, but you can obviously get more from them.

If you're not sure what year it is....get the casting number off the heads (under the valve covers) and post them here or PM them to me.

Do you have any contact info for TorqueMasters? I've never heard of them.
