what did you get done lately
me... i put new studs where the old ones broke off on the front right hub and replaced one that was broken off in the rear... put new lug nuts on the right side of the truck and drove it a little and realized its going to need a valvejob (which sucks!) but means ill get my cam intake and carb installed when we reinstall the heads!
what did you get done this weekend?

Renée and I removed the long box off the 69 a few weeks ago. Other than that it is sitting there. I did talk to a guy that restores cars and he told me to strip the cab of everything, electrical, seat, doors, glass and bring it to him to get an appraisal on getting it fixed. I have not time, place or tools to do the repairs myself. If they think it is in too bad a shape I may get them to track down a cab for me.
They do have a 72 GMC Cheyenne short box they just picked up a few weeks ago. Factory air ( still works), tach dash and tilt. This truck was amazing but he wanted 24,000$ CAD for it. so I think I will fix mine up and besides I like the LWB truck better anyhow, lol.

Unpluged the hole so the water could drain out of the bed...

I started again on my barn doors, Got the access holes cut on the inside panels cleaned them all out, got rust neutralizer on them now, waiting for a FEDEX truck to bring my POR15. Still need to get one glass, and sort out the "stuff in the bucket"
Still trying to figure out why my back up lights wont come on, hopefully solve that today. Found a few more "bubbles" sanded them down , only to find "holes" Speaking of holes... my rockers were holding water, drilled some drain holes in each side... LOTS of water in there...Will be back at ti today.... Praying for NO rain!!!

Mocked up the truck by assembling all the sheet metal components on the frame. Made necessary adjustments and modifications to get the proper gaps and align the body lines. Finished bodywork on tailgate, bed rails and new cowl hood. Now, its time to take it all back apart and finish priming and blocking prior to paint.

Picked up 8 "rough cut" Red Oak boards from a local saw mill do-it-your-selfer. Squared boards up and cut them to length. Ran them through the thickness planer to get them down from the ONE INCH rough cut to a smooth as silk 3/4 inch. Created the proper grooves in all the boards (using instructions from GMCPaul's website) and laid the stain to them (natural color). Waiting on them to dry so I can put on the clear sealer. Then get ready to install them in the stepside bed.

Bought a c10 finally, considering selling this built 327 that I have, and building up the 283 thats in it now (both motors never fired). Should have the 283 fired by this weekend and broken in somewhat, still waiting on my shift linkage to be mobile... so I can go bust on my friends 79 c10 :p

Last night I got a power brake booster mounted on the K5 and attached the rod to the brake pedal. Still need to get the lines changed as I am also putting in a different front axle with disk brakes.

Nothing lately, have a tranny leak to fix, but lots of rain and no garage makes it hard to crawl under the truck in a dirt driveway to find out where the leak is. It was great this past weekend, but I was too busy taking a motorcycle safety course to get my bike license.

Well, here it is, the 20th of July, and all I've got done (from June goals) is manufacture and install the brake lines from the master cyl. to the rear drums. Found out the front lines are a different size, so now I hafta buy a different size tubing bender and start on the front lines. Maybe get them done by Aug. Maybe I should just change the topic to "Things I Got Done This Summer? Ah well, every little bit brings me closer to completing and driving/showing off my new, 1970, GMC truck? Not saying I'm slow or anything, but it's been down since '93.

I've just been cruising mine around. Now that's finally to the stage where I can drive it it's hard to start taking things apart to detail them. Been thinking about A/C though. Texas gets kinda hot sometimes.

Installed a Custom Auto Sound radio and now looking for the headliner with the speakers in the headliner. The speakers under the seat are all muffeled. Installed a new grill, and side trim except for the front fenders. Gotta remove the inner fenders for that task. Steam cleaned under the truck and painted everything under the truck. Installed a power steering setup. 69 Chevy Custom 10 truck. Next project is to install Master Power Performance Brake system.

Well, I am still "pickin" with the old Longhorn.....but as usual, things arent goint fast enough to suit this "crazy old man"! in the last month, i have mounted a set of Cooper cobras on the rear, painted the wheels (all 4 rallies) Verde green Hammertite. The centers, that were too pitted to replate, were painted with a Hammertite grey. a fresh set of chrome lug nuts were added, to set it off &the spinners were polished, & reinstalled. The speedo was recalibrated for the change in tire size driveline angles were readjusted, & the slapper bars are finnally set about right(the old chev comes out of the hole pretty d@mn straight after a hard hole shot).....I was really happy about the last one About a wk back, i tossed the keys to my "Oldest brat", & sat the pass seat, for that run......when he popped her up to 100 mph on the hyway, he said the same thing i did....it didnt feel like it was "flyin"(thats good...I think). today the 500 Holley that I was running came off to drop on my old ugly plow truck. the 750 edel went back on the 383, & was dialed in ......both trucks are much better now! too many steps feel small, but progress goes on.......crazyL
