Searching a nice truck

I want to buy a Chevy truck and the years I want the most is 71-72.

Went to Denmark last week to look at a 68 50th, a rare truck but it was in too bad condition. Almost everything had to bee chanched out and to that it had a lot of rust.

Caculating the cost for restoration and in some way the problems finding parts for it here in Sweden, I passed on that one.

I have plans to go to US in january 2005 and I want to ask if there is a chance to get some help here to find a nice example. I want to be as prepared I can because I only going to be there for one or two weeks.

As far as I know now Iīm going to Michigan and maybe California and the kind of truck I want the most is a 71-72 Cheyenne, Longbed, Fleetside, Two tone paint, Original condition with Rally Wheels, Small or Bigblock, and I donīt mind if itīs well optioned like AC and stuff.

I will post a new thread on this later when itīs closer in time for my trip, I just wanted to check out the chance for help here.

Thanks in advance

you stand a better chance of a rustfree truck from california
rally wheels are not original on a 71-72 truck

OK, thanks,

I did find some nice examples on www.hemmings.com and on www.collectorcartraderonline.com aswell.

Maybe a good idea to wait until I get to California.

About the Rallys, I have seen a lot of 71-72īs with those wheels so I thought they were original, I think they look very good on the trucks anyway, so thatīs what Iīm going to look for.

Mats, I will check out some local car dealers in the Netherlands and Belgium also.
Maybe we will be lucky like the Camaro you found in Germany!
I will keep you posted on any finds.

Take care!

Cya,
Edmond

The Camaro model I was looking for was a 1980 or 1981 Z 28 and I had searched what there was to possibly find in Sweden.

I came up with a total of 7 or 8 1980īs and only 1(one) 1981 Camaros and the 81 was a Z and about 3-4 Zīs of the 80īs.
These are the total number of these yearīs Camaros in Sweden.

As a member of the Camaro Club Sweden ( www.camaroclubsweden.se ) I was able to look in to the official registre of all Camaros in Sweden that the Camaro Club bought from the official auto registre.
There is a total of about 6000 Camaros from all years 67-02 in the country.

The small number of those Camaros (80-81) here is because they were never sold as new cars in Sweden, all the Camaroīs from those years have been imported by private persons or been taken here when someone have moved back to Sweden from USA.

I looked in to the German site www.mobile.de and found what I was looking for there, it was a longshot but newer the less, I found it. Itīs a 350 4-speed with T-top and I restored it last winter to original condition.

Normally there is much more US cars in Sweden (older cars anyway)than Germany but some models are pretty common in Germany mostly newer models, I guess many of them had been taken there by US soldiers doing some time in Germany.
