Service Engine Soon Light. (1987)
After driving the 87 Burb for 30 or so miles (it varies) the Service Engine Soon Light comes on. When I shut off the engine, and restart it, the light goes out. All my guages look fine when the light comes on (oil pres, Temp, Viltage etc.) Any ideas what else could be making this light come on?
Could one of those "code reader" things be plugged in under the dash to see if there is a sensor issue? Thanks for any help. Darren

Search the internet for GM Diagnostic Codes. You should find a web site with the info on how to pull the codes and what they are. Use a paperclip to make the jumper you need to pull the codes. I had a 1987 truck that the light came on after the same amount of drive time. It was the EGR valve. It was also down on power a little and idled rough. Frank
