should i go to the track tommorow?

i get off work at 6:00pm.

the track opens at 6-11.

anyone think i should go? i get paid tommorow, so i can get a full tank of gas and the $15 fee to race.

i wanna see what it runs since i've fixed the timing and other problems. but of course it wont be much faster since it still has crappy gears.

ran a 15.72 last time

15.72 isn't too shabby for a heavy truck, I think thats about what my beetle would do stock. 150HP and 163 lb ft at the crank and 2900 lbs or so depending on how much fuel is in it.

I say for 15 bucks go have some fun and let us know the numbers!

doooo it. Don't get so hung up on ET, what matters is mph. All ET shows is how well you can use the power you have, mph shows how MUCH power you have. GO FOR IT!

don't know about you, but the lower the ET the faster you went down the track, thats what I look at

But I would say your right about the MPH, the faster it goes the more power you have.

Why fill it up I belive id put in about 8 gallons or so and take a 5 gallon jug filled with gas that way your not toting around alot of extra weight.

What i acutally do is take the truck almost empty take a gas can full of 93 and i buy a few gallons of race fuel Its like 6 bucks a gallon though. When Im done racing i pour the 5 gallons of gas on top of it and drive home.

It would be a wise idea to take a Timing Light.

Sounds to me like you should put the entry fee toward your tire fund. It doesn't make sense going to the track burning what little tread you have off....

Would seem to me that less tread would give you more traction, after the tread is basically gone you now have a slick! Of course it won't last very long till you get to the threads hehe.

Umm that's why slicks or very bald tires cant get any traction. The tire doesn't have anyway to divert the water away from the pavement to the tire = very little if any traction. What makes it worse is with all the power its more apt to do it even at low speeds.

Dry pavement its not as bad you get more traction. There is a better contact patch that the wet pavement doesn't have.

lol yeah its really cool to see sparklers going off when doing a burnout on bald tires :p

Normal tires are made of a somewhat hard compound compared to slicks...which are usually a soft(er) compound. When a slick gets warm, it gets sticky...which aids in traction. If you go to the track with a set of normal bald tires, you won't get traction.

I agree with Ken, get new tires...then go racing.
