late model truck disk brakes on our trucks??
Any body have any idea how difficult it would be to put on some late model disk brake setups on our older trucks? I know that would solve to problems for me. 1 being going from drums to disks and 2 going to the newer smaller hub for cheaper wheel prices and larger selection!
Any ideas anyone? Anyone done this already? Thanks, Taylor

i put 81 disks on mine it stops a lot better now i changed mine from the a arms out it was a unbolt and bolt up thing i also use the power booster and ms from the same truck i had to mod sum stuff there at the booster be sure to use the disturbtion block from the doner truck i learned the hard way about that that was before i learned about this board this is the best board on the net aint it the only thing that was a real problem was the 81 stuff was metric and was a pain to find a metric to standerd adapter for the rear brake line but i found it!

that's good info but I was really talking about keeping it 6 lug and using the late model like99 up truck set up with the smaller hubs. Any ideas?
Thanks!

My buddy has my 73+ spindles right now and is fabbing up brackets to mount C5 calipers... that will end up a 5 lug setup though.

I wouldn't mind a 5 lug really I was just courious about doing something late model like that. Do you have any more info on what it is going to take to do that conversion? I already bought a LS6 master and brake booster I'm going to put on...
Thanks, Taylor

I am going to be adding REAR discs this winter (project). Since I have a Dana rear, the discs from a F**d van will be a piece of cake to adapt. Hopefully I will start on it soon.

are you wanting to do the rear brakes too? I've been thinking about this. I got to get my project truck before i do any thing. looking at a swb 71, my neighbor has. I haven't did a search on the site yet, just registered really. wanting to do 4 wheel disc on it. thinking I'd like to look for a wreaked 99-01 2wd 5 speed, could get a 2500 for the 6.0/ 5speed combo.

good point. I'd want 16" anyway, but it seems to be alot nicer wheels for 6 lug. 1500's is 6 lug, but I'd like to get bigger than the 4.8 motor.

make sure you get an 01 up 6.0l otherwise it will have iron heads not aluminum... You can get a 1500HD pick with the 6 lug and 6.0l, 4L80

Not yet. He just started looking at it. Hopefully Ill know something in a week or two. Does look like I will have to stay with the truck 5 on 5 lug pattern though which is probably best for most people here.
