Two-Tone Colors

What two color go together.......
I am going to repaint my truck soon two-tone. I was thinking black top, red bottom or Black top orange bottom. This will be on my stepside.

what do you guys think of the color combos????

i always thought a deep black and a dark red or maroon always went well together.

I like purple and silver. I see pics of a truck from here in Texas posted every now and then, and it looks really good.

yeah, there really isn't a good body line along the back half of steppies to seperate a two tone. BUT that doesn't mean it can't be done.

yup, your right there is no "right place" to seperate the colors. I was thinking of going black from the top bed rail and up. The back fenders and bed would be still orange and the only part of the bed that would be black is the top bed rail and paint the cab and front at the same height. Does that make since to you guys.

lol im diggin' that orange!!! I am in still up in the air (since i got a ways until paint) between metallic yellow or orange.

OK since your asking opinions I'm going to give mine...again. You have a sweet looking truck. The color works great on it. It's bright and attention getting. If I owned your truck, the last thing I would do is two tone it. Make that the second to last because the very last thing I would do is mix black and orange. Again, that's just my personal opinion.

If you are tired of the way your truck looks, consider some other changes to make it fresh in your eyes again. Lower it some more, or change wheels, or add flames. If you reeeeealy think you have to have a two tone truck, change your bed to a fleetside......

Personally I like it the way it is, and I'm not a really big stepside fan......

I agree, leave as is, steppers look silly in 2 tone because the bed will never come out right

N2trux: Thanks for your opinion maybe flames are the way to go.

I can not find any two-tone stepsides on the net that I like. If I lowered it any more I would not be able to drive it the front has been lowered 6" and the rear has a flip kit with 2" shackles I had to c-notch the frame and put a notch in the bed also cause' my rearend pumkin was hitting the floor of the bed. It just looks tall in the rear due to the 275/60/17's (30+"tall). My headers are only about 4-5" from the ground. I could use shorty headers but I would lose some horsepower.

So how about shorter tires in the rear and a nice flame job......and leave it Orange

Its been this way for a few years now and I am just looking for something a little different.

That's what I would do. OK maaaaybe not flames because everyone and their cousin is doing flames, but they are hard to beat when done well.

I would def go with shorter tires if you can't get any lower. Even though I like your rims, maybe you should put new tires "and" wheels along with the flames (or graphics). That would give you a fresh look.....

I know this isn't a stepper, but this is the only way I would see a two tone on your truck working....

very sharp truck..don't know much about what it would look like 2 tone but mind if i ask a question? i'm rebuilding a 4 wheel drive stepside,,have cab off right now,,,when they are painted can they paint in between the bed and cab or is that a problem??? thank you.... you know,,some airbrush of some sort on there if you could afford it would look good...

I love look of your truck and the color just the way it is but, if you really want to do something to break up the solid color why not just add some custom accent pin striping in an off color just around the side markers.
You have spent way too much time shaving and smoothing it to start breaking it up with tu-tone colors or even flames.

How about cream or silver "panels" just around the rear fenderwell and around the front fenderwell stopping at the back of the cab? (kinda like a 57 Vette)

Just a thought.

That is the way they "should" be painted. Most of the time the body shop will at least unbolt the bed and set it back a fot on the frame. That allows them to paint behind the cab and the front of the bed...

thats about how I was thinking of doing mine. seperating the paint at the same place as yours but just paint the top of the bedrail on the stepside. I really need to find a picture of one before I do anything first.

lol bag it with 20s. no thanks I'm in the school of thinking that there is a certain point in which your truck passes being "low and cool" to "low and ghetto fied looking". I think air bags in general are over rated, but then again, thats just my .01 cent (not worth 2)
