Lift installed

2 pitchers of sweet tea later... the lift is pretty much done. Just need to do brakes, u-joints, sway bar , etc, etc and save 1500 bucks for rims and tires.

It all came apart pretty easy - WD40 and liquid wrench did the trick. Wacking the steering arm up and done was also a nice idea - it also helps having a buddy with arms twice as big as mine.

Removing the TC bushings and replacing with the greasable ones was a slow down but will be worth it in the long run.


How do I get this nut off - do I need a special tool?


Hope I can get it out of the garage.

Takes a special socket... its big and has 4 little l_l on it... that fit into the nut. Have no idea what its called.

It's a hub removal socket, you can pick one up at the parts store for less than 10 bucks

The hub nut on my Dana 44 front end amazingly was exactly the same size as the hub removal socket I bought for a Honda CRX several years ago.

It's a 6" Tough Country. I can't wait to get some tires under it and go beat on it.
It's not "if" it's "when" I just visited my grandparents in Plano and it made me miss home that much more. Didn't realize how rude I had gotten living in NM. It's amazing how people would wave as I drove down the street and even moved over when getting on the HWY. They don't teach the "merge" word here.

I see one thing you should do different next time.......... Get rid of the cider blocks under the jackstands....We don't wanna loose ya here. 2x12's work good for that.

"Hope I can get it out of the garage." Geez, if your garage door is the same height as mine you won't be able to - my K20 when it had just 4" of lift wouldn't go in my garage.

Definitely a good idea to stay away from cinder blocks, I did that once before and after seeing how easy they shatter, I won't do that again - ever!

I'll try airing down the tires on my 69 or I'll have to use the jacks to roll it out.
I'll definetly replace the cinders with some wood.

ditto what mudder and yukon said....especially on there side, there's no strength to them that way. I would definitely get some wooden blocks under there!
