Washer pump..Help!

Okay. I think my washer pump is clogged, but I'm not sure. I checked all the hoses (from water jug, and both to outlets) and no clog; the outlets don't squirt water. I'm not sure if the pump is sucking water from the jug. Do you think the pump is junked way up, causing not enough pressure to suck water? Or could the pump just be tired? What do y'all think? Maybe it's getting water, and i can't tell, meaning something else is clogged.
Also, I'm not sure how it all disconnects so i could remove it from the truck. I see like 2 or 3 bolts on the firewall, but it seems kinda tangled into all the electrical system. Any help is such greatly appreciated (or whatever)

could just be tired.. mine stopped pumping and i went with an aftermarket unit.. it small but rather loud.. i just tied it into the stock wires and mounted it off to the side of the original pump..

Yeah it ticks and sounds (and spins) like its trying to pump, but nothing much is happening. Definately going a bit slow for what i think it should be doing. Maybe a universal pump should be on my Xmas list, since mosquitos and such are bad enough to warrant the washer pump. That or a lot of windex ing.

Im sure its just the pump, they cost about $20 or so from your local autoparts store. Mine 85 is located at the fill jug on the drivers fender, kinda fits in a groove of the jug. I changed mine and it only took about 10min, but you do have to remove the fill jug.

ahh, on my 80, the jug is seperate from the pump, the water gets to the pump through a bigger hose than the 2 outlet hoses. But its the same principle im sure. TY all for your help.

If you're sure the pump cam (on the wiper motor) is actuating everything, then it may possibly be the diaprams in your pump. They can be gotten at your local "vato"zone. :p Mine is doing the same thing, but since it rains so rarely here, I haven't been motivated to do anything about it.

Before dismantling whatever , just check your sprayers ( with a tiny wire ) , they might be clogged either...

no, water isn't even getting to the pump i'm pretty positive, i think its just tired. NO biggie, there's always Windex and paper towels

Had the samething happen to mine. Actually never worked since I bought it. Like 76HighSierra said, mostly it's the diaphrams in the pump. Mine hasn't worked in the last 7 years until last weekend. Figured since I installed a delay wiper setup, might as well fix the pump. Put a simple repair kit in it. Took a couple of minutes and cost around $8.

Badone,- Interested in your wiper delay set up. I saw a stock looking set up in a Carcraft? magazine that used the factory switch location. The company was geared towards old Firechickens and Chevelles. Sure it would work but it was over 2 bills.

Cliffsta,- If you take out the instrument panel you can get to the washer/pump a lot easier. The kit (wich I am having troubles locating localy) is pretty easy to install. Just a few rubber seals and valves. I ended up lubing mine with lanolin hand cleaner and everything works now.
