Question Which Intake?

O.K. I decided on a cam for my 350, summitts K1105...224/234 465"/488", which I received today. Now I am faced with another decision, which intake to use? Currently installed is an edelbrock performer but I also have a performer rpm and since the intake has to come off anyway for the cam swap I need to decide which one to put back on. What do you guys think? The power range for this cam is 2200 to 5700 rpm. Also do you think a stall converter would be of some benefit and if so what rpm. Any and all opinions appreciated. Thanks

I"d stick with the Edelbrock Performer as you're cam is just a bit small for the matching performer RPM intake. as far as torqe converter goes I'd say about a 2,000 to 2,200 RPM stall should do you fine

your definately going to want to run the performer rpm you will lose a lot of power with the regular performer with that cam. the plain performer doesnt make very good power in the upper rpms where that cam is gonna be. you will be much happier with the rpm

You wanna match the cam to the intake since you have somewhat of a choice.
The performer is a step over stock...idle to 5500 RPM is where it works, and most of that is probably below 1800 RPM.
The RPM is rated for 1500 - 6500 RPM, and is a step or two over the performer.

As far as converter, you need to figure your gear ratio, vehicle weight, tire diameter, intended use, and the cam specs, and call a converter company. Even if you don't buy from them, they can tell you what's best. While CableGuy is probably right, i would still want to call a converter company personally...they have the computer programs, and know there stuff. (again, as does cableguy) Also, the cam spec sheet may tell you right on there what converter would be best.

just do yourself a favor though on the convertor buy from a good company like tci bill taylor coan ati personally for a street vehicle or mostly street i will run a tci any day of the week they hold up great mine has definately proven itself. it has lived through me driving for around 15k miles without a problem thats 4 different transmissions that i scattered parts through and the convertor is still great. if it was me i would run tci #241101 its a breakaway model will stall around 2400rpm which is great for that cam in a heavy truck and it has an antibalooning plate which makes it a lot stronger and can handle nitrous
