Gas door with remote release - The 1947 - Present Chevrolet & GMC Truck Message Board Network

Cut out the gas door pocket assembly from a 1990 Mazda 626 and welded it into the driver's bed side. It's a remote release door which means a flat fuel door with no finger notch. The filler neck from the same car worked nicely after a couple of cuts and welds to the required configuration. Now, all I have to do is weld up the box pieces I cut out to hide the filler neck in the bed. Fuel Cell Guy aluminum tank tucks nicely under the bed.

No, I didn't take a picture of the remote release. The mechanism actually has two release levers; one for the fuel door and one for the trunk. I plan on using the one for the trunk as the hood release. I still have a ways to go with the truck so I haven't worked out all the details just yet on where to mount the release mechanism in the cab.

That's a pretty slick set-up keep us posted on the final location of the release lever..
