Shock Recomendations
What kind of shocks are you guys running on your 4x4s, and how have they been? I'm getting close to needing new ones, and I want to know what you guys think.

I am running the Rancho RS9000's- not 9000x's(I bought them before they came out). They are a vast improvement over the trailmasters that were on there. They really softened up the ride. The nice part is that I can stiffen up the ride by just a turn of the 5 position dial. That is great for when I go hunting and driving on the washboard roads. I really like theses shocks. I want to get a set of 9000x's and the remote adjustment setup as well

I'm running the same as ProjectK-10 and couldn't be happier with them! What's your budget? How much are you willing to spend?

I run Bilstein stock replacements (longer than stock for my lift) and they work great.

I'm restoring my 61 4x4 (no lift. I figure that its quite high enough as it is, and nobody makes one for a truck that old.) so money for shocks really isn't a problem. I like all the ones mentioned so far.

After runing Rancho (adj 9000's & standard 5000's), Pro Comp, SkyJacker and numerous others I tried a set of Bilsteins and now use them on every 4x4 buildup I do, unless I am installing big $$$ Fox, SwayAway, or King coilovers.

A good 4wheel drive shop should be able to order your shocks by length and end style without an application guide. We called Bilstein for my buddies '01 Tacoma because he lifted it 2" and they told us which shocks would fit. There is a way to jack up your truck and let the suspension hang and measure between the shock mounts then lower it and do the same. A good shop or manufacturer can tell you exactly how to do this. Then you just need to know the diameter and length of your mounts. I highly recommend the Urethane shock bushings.

I just replaced the stock 114k mile bilsteins (loved em') on my 97 with superlifts. I've only put about 100 miles on em so hopefully they get better but so far I don't like em too bouncy. Everything else I have has Tuff country shocks and I love them.
