Console question

I'm looking for a center console for my 72 Blazer. I want one that has the 2 cupholders instead of the seat belt slots. Does anyone know what year Blazers or Jimmys had these?

Cup holders came in later model Blazers and Jimmys. It is a common swap because the seat belt slots are pointless (IMO). 69-72 Blazers & Jimmys had the slots.

I swapped mine out too! Now my console holds the cups, and my lap holds the seatbelts!

I was thinking about it, but my wife is getting me one of the ashtray cup holder replacements from WES at Classicheartbeat. Can't wait to unwrap it and install it!

I have a couple of these if you are interested. E-mail me back and maybe we can make a deal.

I like the one with the cope holder. It makes a nice place to mount some extra switches.

Thanks for the info. Maybe one of these days I'll get some free time to go to the salvage yards and look for one.

Thanks,

You might want to drill the holes for it now before the carpet goes down, there is a indentation at the egde of the bottom of the console. It sits on the raised area on the floor, it might be harder to locate the raised area on the floor through the carpet.

Bret, I think it is just four sheet metal screws through the bottom. LMC lists them in their catalog.

the seatbelt holder style was still used in the early 70's setups. IIRC it was 76 or 77 that they changed to cup holders. good luck

When I put mine in there was 2 dimples on the floor so you know where to drill the holes.

Hey tbi72blazer

What part of Colo are you in? I ask only Cause I'm in Denver and I could keep an eye out for you. I found mine in a pick and pull for 10$ I had to glue the side together but for 10$ it works great.

I'm located in rural northern Colorado - farm country. Lately I don't seem to have much free time, so if you happen across one, that would be cool. Thanks Cethern!
