tow Hitch
Jose, I don't believe you will find a factory aftermarket hitch rated to 10,000 for a Blazer. I looked and wound up buying a hitch for a 99+ truck ($40. at a swap meet) and cut/welded it to work. It was rated to 6,000 lbs which is about the norm. Part of the problem is access to the frame on blazers.
With the sport bumper and the rear tank, your bottom edge of the frame is limited and you also have a bend in it between the bumper and the body. I had to cut the mounting surface of the hitch quite a bit. Also had to modify the width. You have the rear crossmember mounting, gas tank mounting, rear leaf mounts and the outer bumper mounts all coming together where you would like to put the hitch. I have an original factory (not sure if gm or other) hitch for a 67-72 truck but haven't tried to put in on yet as my SWB project is taking more time then I hoped. My guess is that is is probably designed for a coil spring truck which may not equal a bolt up for a leaf sprung truck/blazer. I can take a picture or two for you if that will help, as well as any dimensional numbers you might want---. Sorry it's not for sale but perhaps with some pictures, you might be able to find a suitable candidate from another. Huck |

Thanks for the offer Huck . I do have a hitch that i was thinking of cut/weld and making it fit . You are right there is not much room for a hitch . I see that GMCPaul's has them for 159.00 plus shipping . If i can't find a good used one i may call them and order one . Jose

Jose:
I've got one on my '72 Blazer. I am not going to use it after my restoration. I haven't removed it from the truck yet. I'm not at home right now, but if I remember right, it bolts to the frame in front of the gas tank and is welded to the frame just under the tailgate. I can take pics of it if you are interested. I would sell it for $50, plus shipping. It's a heavy one.
