How much can I expect...
to pay a shop to remove my old floor pans, outer floor panels and rocker panels/ kick panels and weld me in new ones, grinded and primed for paint? I just found some major rot on the outer parts of the floor, doors and kick panels and can't stand it. I may send it to the shop this winter.

Your gonna pay a butt load of money. Get a welder, grinder, and some other tools and do it yourself. It takes a bit of learning but you'll feel better about the job knowing you did it yourself. Even with buying the tools and patch panels it will still be cheaper than paying a reputable shop. Hope I helped and good luck.

You'll probably have to leave your first born with the bodyman, but that's ok, by the time he finishes your truck you'll already have another offspring and be walking too!!

Big J is right on, if you have the time and space and have a measure of common mechanical knowledge,I would say attempt doing it yourself.you will be able to control the cost you will be floored what a body shop can charge.Of late I have heard of many a horror story about body shops having trucks for long periods of time and not getting nothing done,so you possibly would do it faster then they would, and plus the truck is always going to be in your garage.

Body Repairs
Everything said above is true enough but a body shop will most likely do it right and a first timer at body work might not. Sorry, just being realistic.
Here's something for you to think about. The guy that does my body work has driven nothing but these trucks since 1971 (he loves em), he does awesome work (as in correctly) and only charges $25.00 an hour. Your close enough to VT to trailer it over and have him do the work. Whatever you do "do it right" the blazer's worth it. If you want more info pm me with any Q's. I'd be happy to discuss it over the phone with ya also. That's what I'd do, he currently has a couple of mine up there being worked on. |

I've found the going price around here for floorpans, rockers, front of rear quarter rust and some bed floor rust, put bottom of doors on and a few other things, sand and paint inside and out for $3000-$3500. I've waited since August on my first bodyman, told him this week I was taking it elsewhere. Found a board member that will do it for me.

A nice or decent welder is around $500 bucks and you get to keep it when you are done, not to mention learning how to weld in the process. My K-10 needs a few cab supports, I am going to buy a welder and learn how to do it myself.
