I recently bought a 71 chevy in about same condition. Front fenders or repair panels should be easy to obtain. Depending on how bad rears are truck repair panels could possibly be made to fit? Oh, I paid $600.00 for chevy. Hope this helps.

Dean, The front sheet-metal is the same as the trucks and the rear patch panels are available from GMC Paul and others. The only patch not here yet is the third door rocker, which should be out any day now. GMC subs are fairly rare. Here is a link showing the number of Chevs made, GMC's were only about a thid of the number. Plus your talking Canada, not many here. Mine came from Cali/Nev. There is a rust free '68 in Fernie in the Trader right now for 25g . However, I don't think you should pay more than a grand for it. I paid 2200 for mine and drove it home from Penhold. I did have to stop in Calgary to change some parts, but after that I drove it for 3 years daily. Mine is a half ton 2wd. Michael

Unless the interior is good, I would start at $2-300. The main body "bed" sides are a serious area to have rust. Probably more rust is present. I started to give a tip or two and grew a list. So I'll make it a list.:p
1. The front fenders can be trash since they are easily replaced as bolt on. 2. If you can, take off the interior side panels above the wheel wells. Again, looking from the inside, check for rust at the juncture of the wheel well and the body side. 3. Check for rust in the spare tire wheel well. 4. Get under the Sub and look for tell-tale signs of patch panel work in the floors between the firewall and the wood floor. Some POs use scrap metal for patch work. (I hate POs 5. Check the kick panels all the way down below the mat/carpet. 6. Check the floor under the mat/carpet, especially in front. 7. Check lower rear fenders, fore and aft of the rear tires. I hope you've found a diamond in the rough.

All 3/4t4x4s are fairly rare.GMC more so.Check out those production#s.That sounds like a minimal price.Even if the body is too far gone, you can always look for a decent body-donor 2wd.The Suburban frame & drivetrain are worth the $500.The frames are unique.Buy it!

The only problem with finding a new body is being in Canada. Hopefully it can be saved. Let us know what happens! Michael

Save It...save it for the Suburban Chassis at least. You can always drop on a rust free Cali-body from a more plentiful 2wd burb.

someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the only engine that burb should have had was the 305 V6. The 350 was intro'd in '69...and my TSM says that the 305 V6 and 350 were the only engines for the GMC 3/4 ton 4x4 in '69. But if you could get it cheap, then do it!

If it originally had a small block then it was either a 307 or 327. I can't find any reference to the V-6 being used in Suburbans or Panels during these years. My book (67-69 Truck Master Parts Book) also show the H-052 as the axle used for burbs in these years when the trucks all used the Spicer (Dana) 60. Kinda odd. In any case, I think $500 is a good price even if the body is rough, those frames don't show up for sale very often.
