Help Rearend
Well i keep on breaking my ujoint caps right off it seems to always happen when i stop at a light and i mash the throttle.
What could be the problem? The truck is a GMC with leaf springs 350 tranny and engine with i think a dana (how can i check?) Could my rearend be tweaked? Riddla

It sounds like you are binding the joint. do you have a lift or drop that changed the angle at all? Or could just be the axle windup twisting the springs causing the joint to stress and brake. A ladder bar or strut from axle to the front of the spring should help.

There should be a code stamped on your rear axle facing the front of your truck near the top on the passenger side axle tubing. Some are near the pumpkin and some are near the hub. You may need to do some wire brushing. Go to this web page to look up the codes: http://www.gmcpauls.com/67-72_chevy.htm There should be two letters, which are the code, and several numbers. The numbers are simply the date the rear-end was stamped. Also, your glovebox door should list the ratio, but the glovebox door or rearend could have been swapped out. Same question as above, and how much horsepower does your motor have?

Is your driveshaft one piece or two?

Big Fat Guess: Sounds like you're running high hp thru a driveline with only 1310 size yokes. You might have a driveshaft shop evaluate the strength of your yokes against your hp/torque. They might recommend upgrading to 1350 yokes. If a 2wd w/coils, perhaps poly trailing arm bushings would help stablize the rear suspension. Check the tightness of the u-bolts. Just conjecture, really.
