wiper motor wiring
Already did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for. Does anyone have a link or a picture of a wiring diagram for the wiper motor complete to the switch and including the washer pump. All google gave was some web sites that will sell me a manual. Cannot justify buying a book for a truck I am going to sell.

I copied this from an old Haynes manual, eliminating one harness connector & about 2 pages of page-crossing parallel lines. Hope it helps.

Thanks for the pic--my problem seems to be the black/blue wire that goes to the park switch. The ground wire at the switch is for the light. If I ground the black /blue wire with a jumper the motor works and so does the pump, but I still do not have hi speed wipe. Also where does the system get its ground? I traced the forementioned wire thru the harness and the wire is good from the switch all the way thru the fuse block and bulkhead connector up to the motor. What actually grounds the wiring to make the motor work?

I had a similar problem with my 81 El Camino. I ran a ground wire from one of the mounting bolts to the fender. It would park after that.

Motor has a ground strap, but it justs grounds the motor itself. The wiring seems to be a separate isssue. I may just put a wire in the harness in the park switch circuit and call it good and hope I do not need hi-speed.

It looks to me like it grounds through the black wire from the switch. That wire goes to a splice with more black wires, & then to what looks like a ground terminal, which, I assume from the location on the wiring diagram, must be under the dash somewhere.
Does your high-speed position on the switch do anything at all? Mine works, but it only gives me low speed, no matter whether it's set on high or low. |

From what I have gathered, the system grounds thru the park switch circuit. How this is supposed to work with a plastic switch I don't know. I still have only one speed--slow. If I jump the motor directly I have both speeds. Thru the switch I have only one. I ohmed out the switch and it is good. WTF?, anyways I have been messing with this for a week, I think I am going to put it together and call it good. I need to get a 4 sale on this thing soon.
