im at a cross road in building my truck. i was wondering what would be better, drop leaf springs, or a flip kit. any opinions or facts about why one is better than the other is greatly apriciated.

It depends on how much drop you want.

Most drop leaves are 4 inch and the flip kit is either 5 or 6 inch drop.

Is this for the truck in your signature?

If so, no question about it, for a 4 inch rear drop, do a hanger/ shackle combo.

Cheap, and easy, and will still ride great.

In the front, I'd do a 2 inch drop spring. A 2.5 inch spindle may ride somewhat better, but will be a good bit more costly. Myself, I like 2 inch drop coils in the front. The money I save over buying it rather than a spindle will buy an excellent set of lowered truck gas shocks.

yup its for the truck in my sig. yeah i just priced a set of drop leafs, 600 bucks compaired to 400 for a shackle and hanger. i think i know what im going to get now.

Keep shopping, a shackle and hanger kit should cost a good bit under 200 bucks.

i think im going to really cheap out and make my own flip kit and C section. if only i could make front spindles and coil springs...

leaf spring lowering is bad for the leafs and harsh ride, get a flip kit man doesnt it make a lil more sense any how?

I completely disagree. All of my street rods have used lowered leafs in the back. They ride better than the original springs did everytime. I use good quality springs like Posies.

Besides, a shackle and hanger kit will do what he wants and he won't be changing anything about the springs, just how they are mounted to the frame.

Here is a 4 inch shackle and hanger lowering kit for his truck that costs 170 bucks. It doesn't affect the spring at all.

hmm..well seeing that i am a cheap little prick from time to time, i think im going to make my own flip kit and C notch, and then get a drop spindle and coil spring if need be.
