Guy over at CTS has a d60 (4.56) for 1400 and has been gone through or it seems like it was in really good shape.

Hey thanks all.Ok,what is CTS?When I search on Ebay,I never come up with anything.I`ve tryed D60axle,1t,CUCV...every whichway.I`ll try some more, now.Maybe nothing was listed when I checked. What do you guys use for that search?Don`t want to look through every axle under the sun.Considered Boyce, but Dang,$2500+ship to east coast.Don`t think so(salty!get it?Utah,salty?heh-heh).Least not until the house is paid for.I`d like to get a banged-up CUCV,they had one,$4g.Like to find one`round here.

Americanrider,I checked that link.Think I`m gonna contact him.He seems to have more.Think that`s a Dodge, internal locking hubs. They don`t look like it,though. There are alot of Dodge D60Fr axles out there. What would be differences to deal with?I know their frames are wider than GM & Ford out back.Areas of concern would be:1)steering 2)yoke 3)spring pads.

I have a dodge dana 60 that im going to use...other than being 2" narrower than a GM 60, the spring perches come out to be 1/4" farther out than the GM. Im not really worried about that, to tell the truth.

other cheap drivetrain sources
I found the GSA Gov auction website the other day, sometimes they have beat-up 1 tons & 'burbs for sale cheap. Mostly old Forest Service/Military Leased/FBI/Misc Fed vehicles. Also look into any DRMO auctions. They sell excess stuff at most large military bases like used 5 tons, 2 &1/2's, Blazers & junked Hummers. I know a guy who makes a living selling old 5-tons to farmers, they buy them here at Ft. Lewis and takes them over to Southern Idaho for re-sale. You could also try a google search for Military Vehicle Sales.
(Government Service Administration) (Defense Re-utilization Marketing Office) Boyce also has a Chev 1-ton dbl cab for sale in the pick-up section of their website last I looked. Scrap steel is really high righ now for whatever you can't part out & sell. Assuming you have the time & room to tear one apart. When you run your e-bay search just type in "Dana" might have about 11-15 pages of stuff to look through but it's all there. Some times sellers don't use common sense when listing something, example: Last week I just picked up a M-1200 Warn Winch, NIB, for 800 bones. Nobody bid on it becuase it the lady had listed as a Warn Part Number. |

I usually just search for dana 60. Try about any way you can think of that somebody might list it. Also the least amount or words the most amount of "hits" you get.
O/T but I can't resist...Hey Americanrider, Ya got any pics of the dumper setup on your truck? If that's your truck in your avatar. I would love to do that to mine someday.

special-K, since you live in Maryland, have you considered making a trip to Harry's U-Pull It near West Hazleton, PA? From what I understand, all parts are under $100, so you could pick up both axles for less than $200. They charge a $1 entrance fee to keep the parts prices low. Read a local article about Harry's.
I've read other bulletin board claims that all of Harry's axles cost $65. No matter which one. Consider the source, you know. Worth a call to see if a trip would be worth it. Good hunting.

Harry`s sounds like a cool place.I`m checking it out even if I get axles first.I go to a junkyard a little south of Hazleton. This guy sends the mobile-crusher guys away.Tells them,"go crush everybody elses, then they`ll come to me for old parts".I like that thinking.

Special-k, I lived in MD most of my life and I used to go to brandywine for parts. BIG yard out there, has all kinds of 67-72 trucks. If doesn't have one he can get you one.
