is the turbo 350 in a 4x4 any different from one in a 2 wheel drive?

the tail shaft is different.That's what makes the length different.
Here's the 2wd and the 4wd.No cone on the end of the 4wd trans

Yep it's a little bit shorter and there is not the cone thing on it that the 2 Wheel drive ones have.

To my knowledge there is no difference externally in a 4x4 or 2wd TH350 case. The output shaft is shorter which is more or less internal. The transfer adapter bolts in place the the tailshaft housing that would be used in a 2wd vehicle.

thanks guys, i want to have the one for my 4x4 rebuilt and i didnt want the tranny guys jamming me with bs like the 4x4 will be more expensive to rebuild.
