This Is Where It Gets Good, Look In The Valley. The Answer To The Your Question Is No I Did Not Drop That Bolt There!!!!!!!!!!! I Dont Know How Long It Stayed There But I Got Very Lucky!!!!! I'd say you were damn lucky! In fact, you might want to go buy a couple of lottery tickets.

You are a lucky man. I, however would never ever have as good of luck. My motor would have locked up in a minute if I had a bolt in it like that. BTW check out Flaming River steering columns. IMO they look just as good and are a lot cheaper, $ wise.

looks very good dude! I really like the column. I think those valve covers are factory non-chrome style. orange covers & air cleaner on a black engine? WTF?! was it holloween?
BTW, just a suggestion. move the temp guage tube away from the exhaust to eliminate false readings.

I always paint my aluminum intakes. Sometimes, I even grind off the name to make it look totally stock.

I like my engines looking all Chevy orange just like stock.

This is the 454 in my last truck with an Edelbrock Performer intake. If you don't look real close, it looks all stock. Besides, it's also an easy way to clean up a cheap ugly ebay intake manifold to make it look great.

Would you by any chance be interested in getting rid of those original orange valve covers? Thanks.

I always use the temp sender hole in the intake. If you have one there. That way you can run it along the intake/valve cover, right back towards the firewall, then thru the firewall.

I thought putting the temp sender in the heads would be more accuate than in the intake because it is taking the reading closer to the clyinders.

I ususally put the sender in the passenger side head towards the rear and find a way to route it around the exahust....
I put it in the pass side just to see how hot the back of the block gets before the thermo opens...you'd be surprised...last one went upto 230-240 for a couple of seconds before the new cool water could get there in time....goes to show you....maybe that is why some of the newer motors have a "heater hose" line in the backside of the intake.

I agree with TX - I always paint my aluminum intakes too. (only time that i don't is if i need a littl contrast ..but i will still clear them with a good clear)
Aluminum intakes get SH*^&Y very quickly...even just sitting there (winter is tough. and they are a paint to get clean once they've oxidized -

Best way is to "sandblast" them with glassbead - that's how i did my bigblock intake then cleared it (looks like new...just with a little more shine to it)

but your motor does look alot better without the orange stuff on it.

want to sell the orange aircleaner?

As far as the temp sending unit, You shouldn't get any false readings due to header heat. If you are refering to internal temps, that's kinda figured into the equation...if you are talking about teh sender going by the header on the outside of the engine...it doesn't work that way.
