'79 C-10 + 6.0L LS1 = easy?
My '79 C-10 (305 2bbl all smog still installed with TH350) is in serious need of motor. I want something modern, fuel injected and with good emissions, so I'm thinking low-milage LS1 transplant. Ideally, taking the engine and auto tranny out of something wrecked and dropping it in. How tough will this be? Are there companies which make components like wiring harnesses, motor mounts, transmission cross members, etc.? I'm finding lots of stuff online about TPI and LT1 transplants, but I haven't seen anything about LS1. I would love to talk to anybody who has done this. Or if anybody has links to useful companies, that'd be awesome, too. Thanks! |

the BEST site for LS1 info IMO is easily www.LS1Tech.com
If you plan on making big power with the LS1 I wouldn't use the 4L60E (if that is what comes with the donor car) but go with the 4L80E you'll have way less problems with the trans then.
