4x4 Frame questions
Will a '67-'72 cab fit on a '73+ 4x4 Frame.
I know that the rear cab mounts are different - the 67-72 mount outside the frame and the 73+ mount inside. which would be an easy fix...just get some mounts off a 67-72 and put them on the outside. any other differances? Wheelbase? Width? Length? is the "kickup area" on a differant angle? Thanks

You should talk to Mudder67. His is a 67 body on a 73-87 frame.

Shortened the frame, and rear brake lines. Used the old cab mounts on the outside of the 77 frame. Pretty much the same holes that was used for the 77 mounts. Made a plate on top of the front spring perch for the front clip. Low hump so used a body lift. Cut some blocks and added to others to get things straight. Used the Master and Booster that came on the 67 (drum brakes). Added a ujoint to the steering column. Brakes work great. Disk all the way around work even better. Cant think of anything else.

Did the frame horns stick out too far to mount the factory front bumper? Was your frame '80 down or '81 up?

77 chasis. We mounted the bumper in a way to be as close to legal in Missouri as we could. Cant remember how far it stuck out. The frame was too low to be mounted in the factory position.

1. how much did you have to take out of the frame?
2. if i have a high hump cab will i still need to do a body lift or will it bolt down when i put the rear mounts on the outside of the frame? - i heard something about clearance issues on the rear pan of the cab with the frame??? heard of this??? i thought i read it in another post here on the site...about 2x4's but i can't remember 3. does the support line up with the mount holes on the 73+ frame? - no modifacation to get the nose of the truck to fit? - basically bolt on other than the "bumper issue" Thanks Mudder. maybe you should do a short write up in the FAQ section about this..if you have time, can remember all you had to do and are willing to...just a suggestion
