are you interested in flush mounting your windshield. i have flush mounted a back glass before. never checked to see if the mounting lip is large enough to flush mount one in a chevy truck, or if more metal must be added. the newer chevy truck windshield gasket probably can be modified to accept earlier year glass to make this sweet install a done deal. you got me thinking about it with my project now. i'd be intersted to see this also.

JDL, i have searched the threads up and down, and i cannot seem to locate any particular thread solely on flush-mounted windshields.... any more suggestions about what the particular thread you are look for was about? have you checked with any of the vendors on the board?

I think it had shaved drip rails to. Yes I have checked some outhers. I think some one would have done it.

Can you believe that the silver/black truck is actually a Blazer that has had "a few" modifications made to it? I don't know who owns it now, but it was originally built by the granddaddy of billet, Lil' John Buttera.

I've got a magazine article on it somewhere; I'll see if I can find it and look to see if it shows closeups that would reveal the flush mounted windshield gasket.

This is a surprise as I myself have started looking into doing this a week ago. Here's the problem as I see it. It will take a lot of metal work to close the gap between the windshield and it's "frame". Or you will have to go with a lexan/acrylic windshield. I'm not worried about the seal as there are many options out there most of which that can be had from your local glass company. I guess another option would be to see about getting a custom windshield made but I'm not sure if that's feasible as it would have to be just like the stock one but maybe a 1/4" wider in all directions (haven't measured as I don't have a windshield). I found a company last week that makes them and they come in 1/8", 3/16", and 1/4" thicknesses, are shatterproof, scratch proof, can be tinted, and are lighter than standard glass. They are coated and safe for wipers. Yes, they do have the disclaimer about not for street use but that's not the problem. The problem is they don't make one for our trucks. '55-59 and '73 and up only. I've got a email to them but haven't heard anything back yet. As far as the pinchweld, it would be fine with a lexan windshield. I think it wouldn't be enough for glass though. But that's just my opinion as I've never done this and am just learning about it.

bottom line is, to do this would require some metal reshaping to make the windshield area smaller to accept the stock glass and delete the factory seal, or have a custom windshield made to fit the opening. if i were to do it i'd modify the metal, as i'd hate to pay more than once to get a custom curved glass made........ if need be. i say this because i do my own metal work, but would have to pay someone else big bucks for a custom windshield.
