Question IMCO or SpinTech performance mufflers

Anyone ever used either IMCO or Spin Tech performance mufflers? Got some sound files maybe----? I went to both websites and listened, but prefer to hear someone else's too.....

I am just wanting something different than flowmasters.......SpinTech's are supposed to be really awesome, but seem a bit pricey.....the IMCO's look and sound a bit like Flowmasters, but lots less $$$........

Anybody?

my ex boss had one on his 93 1/2 ton with a 305. he said it was a knock off of a blora muffler. BTW, it has one of the best flow rates and sounded good.

My friend deals the IMCO mufflers and I think they sound awesome. Same as a flowmaster but half the money.

the cars that i've heard the spintecs on just sound like open headers. they don't really change the tone any imo. i didn't care much for the sound

I agree with Ryan, the Spin~Tech's are LOWD! A friend has them on his 12:1 340 in his 66 Dart, dual 3" exhaust, and I don't think it could BE any louder with open headers. But hey, I like it! I'd put them on my truck, if they weren't so expensive.

I had the biggest IMCO elite they had with (dual) 2.75" inlet & (dual) 3" outlet dumped right out of the muffler on a 6.0L LQ9 (Silverado SS motor) and it sounded very mean! Part# 7508 maybe. 5x10 case with the biggest overall length.

It was very deep and very aggressive on that muffler/engine combo. Not as metalic sounding as a 40 series flowmaster. I think it sounded better than the 20 some odd other flowmasters I have had in the past on other vehicles. But I had it on a 345HP 6.0L running thru cat convertors, not sure what a 350V8 with not cats and a carb would sound like. Probably even better, but maybe not as loud.

I feel confident that I picked up some power too, but the sound was great. I would not hesitate to suggest one, especially for the price. They are built like a tank to boot.

Question

So they sound kinda like a Flowmaster....except deeper and less "metal" sounding? I was looking at the Elites or the Pro's in a 2.5" in and out....smaller case....actually, the same size case as a flowmaster 40.......again, as you said, with a modified 305 (cammed and headers) thru straight duels and no converters.......

Yes they are close to the flowmaster sound, but I guess you could say more ballsie, if that's a word??? There is less of the chamber noise because of that wing and baffle design.

You would probably be better off with one of the smaller bodied ones to get a little louder sound. Or get the 16" elite.

I don't think you could go wrong with an IMCO. The spintechs are very expensive in my opinion.

Another muffler you might want to consider is the FlowTech Terminator. We have run these on several of our projects, and that are an awesome sounding muffler. They make a small block almost sound like a big block. They are the deepest sounding mufflers I have heard. They really don't sound like a Flowmaster, which to me, is the beauty of them. They make an engine with any decent performance camshaft sound like the engine is thumping instead of just loping. When you rev an engine with these it doesn't have that "tinny" or "metallic" sound like a FM. It has a crisp, deep, powerful sound. I have a sound clip of a set of Terminators on a 383 stroker, but I do not know how to post it here. I can email it to you if you like. Here is an Ebay auction with Terminators: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...spagename=WDVW

you might want to look into dynomax mufflers, I put a set of the dynomax "hemi" super turbo mufflers on my truck, 2.5" system all the way out the back, I LOVE THE WAY IT SOUNDS!!! totally mellow tone and very little interior noise. check it out www.dynomax.com

THX BLuejimmy.....well, after much thinking about it...I went with the IMCO's......MAN! do they sound good! They sound more meaty than the FM 2 chambers, with a better tone I think! LOVE EM! Highly recommended! And, at $40-50 a piece, lots cheaper than FM's!!!

Oh, BTW, I definitely picked up a bit more low end torque and "seat of the pants" acceleration improvement over the FM's...........really!
