Factory Tach Question

I have a Factory Tach Guage cluster that came out of my '79. I know that the Tach was not working when it was taken out but I have the part that it supposedly needed to be fixed. (a bad resistor I believe??)

Question...seeing that these seem to be somewhat rare, what would this be worth? Would sell with the Factory bezel (fair shape).

I need to start clearing out some of the misc. parts that I know I'll not be using on the re-assembly. So I was just wondering what would be a fair market price for this item.

Thanks for any info.

Jason

Hard to say. It depends on how bad someone wants it. A working cluster goes from around $50-60 on ebay. These things are expensive to have repaired. I've seen regular gauges (no tach) sell on this board for as little as $20-25. If you post some pictures you might generate a little more interest. I might be interested because I have a 79 also, but if its going to cost $100 to get it repaired then it would be better to keep waiting for a working cluster to come along.

Jason, the factory tachs sell for usually $100 minimum, and I have seen them go far as much as $300 for real nice ones. Yours happens to be one of the more versatile units...and can be put in a wider range of vehicles with little to no modification (unlike the earlier units). Read http://www.73-87.com/7387garage/inte...achometers.htm if you haven't already to learn a little more. BTW - I sold one a while back and got $160 for it. Hope this helps some.

Here are some currently on Ebay..

Thanks guys...I'll pull it off the shelf and snap a few pics of it.

I know for a fact that the Tach only needs the part that is included. The Lens is clean and the Bezel is in fair shape.

I'll post it when I get it out and cleaned up.

Thanks again.

I just sold a real nice '79 factory tach cluster for $295 on ebay...everything worked though. Nice ones are worth a lot of money.

If I were you I would install the part and check the tach out. If you can offer it as a "know" working unit it will bring much better money....
