You mean, something like EasyCAD?

Can you list specifics of what you want? I have a close friend who works with CAD on ar egular basis, he might have some tips.

I use Visio. Made my house plans, e-mailed to actual blue-print folks and had the real thing made with no hassle. You can do everything to scale, too.

AutoDesk makes a light version of AutoCad called AutoSketch. There are tons of "home planning" software applications out there. Many are cheap and you get what you pay for, but some are good values. Do a search on Amazon (or your software etailor of choice.)

Ok, from someone who works at Autodesk, the makers of AutoCAD, I have to jump in.

There is AutoCAD, but at over $3500, out of reach for most.
Then there is AutoCAD LT (This is the lite version of AutoCAD) at around $500
Then there is AutoSketch. This is nothing like AutoCAD or LT, but is very comparable to LT, and is around $120.

If you were to use an Autodesk product for creating your own drawings for printing, you can get by with AutoSketch. IF you are going to start working on your own creating drawings for money, then you should think about LT.

If you can still find it on the shelves, there is a product called QuickCad, it is almost identical to AutoSketch, but is around $99.

Note, that I do have all of these programs, new in boxes, and may be interested in trading some of these programs for 67 truck parts. PM me if you need more info...

I run Autocad myself. But depending on what you're after I've also run 3D Home Architect by Broderbund. It's really easy to operate and gives a lot of options on what the finished product (house, porch, etc.) will look like. After you "build" your structure, you can have it switch to a framing view and it'll show you the internal framing layout. Not very good for blueprint style plans, but really good for visualization purposes. It also has 3D views and you can take virtual tours of the inside and outside of the structure.

Is this designed to run on a PC? What's the cost (roughly)?
