Anyone have any experience with the wiring upgrade kits from Mad electric? I have been reading their info on the web site, looks like it might be a good upgrade.

not knocking anyone or their kit... i am looking into doing it as well... found this link as all the parts are readily available... a good resource and schematic...relay for headlight upgrade

I would suggest tinning your wires and soldering the connections as the worst elec problems are from vibration or corrosion in autos... also pick up some dielectric grease for use on all connectors... its cheap stuff... now if i can just find a good supply for the 8 and 10 ga wire... I'll go at it this weekend...

I just purchased a complete electrical kit from M.A.D. Enterprises www.madelectrical.com, the kit is great and the installation instructions are very easy to understand and use, they not only tell you what you need to do but they explain why. Mark Hamilton the owner spent a lot of time on the phone with me talking over my truck and its electrical needs. He seems very excited about what he does and is very happy to discuss how the electrical systems work and how they can be improved. I have started to rewire the engine compartment of truck with his system and can already see it is going to work and look great.

For more info there is a guy on www.chevytalk.com under the early truck section by th e handle of "Horvath". He has a lot of schematics and stuff.

Hey thanks for the info on Mad Electric. I drove all over
Nashville one day trying to find the proper connectors for
the GM HEI distributor. None of the Chevy dealers had it.
Also...the Painless wiring harness that I bought for my truck
does not have the proper connectors for the HEI. That was
surprising since Painless cost nearly twice as much as other
wiring kits for our trucks.

I ordered the kit "CS-ALT" from him to install my "late model" alt on my serpentine kit. It isn't here yet (I just ordered it late last week), but he is a nice guy that will spend all the time you need on the phone ASKING YOU what you want to accomplish, THEN suggesting the kit you need. I can't wait to get it installed and see how she works.

Heres where I got my HEI conector. I like this one because you use your own wire insted of spliceing into a pigtail like the one from GM performance parts.

Mark at MAD is a great guy to work with and all the parts in his kits are top notch quality. Highly recommended.
