Post What welder do you use

I'm getting ready to start replacing some floor pans and interior door bottoms. I can pick up a Lincoln 85 amp wire feed mig without the bottle for $300 new. Will that do the job or would you recommed a higher amp rating and gas?
Any information will be appreciated.
I'm a so-so welder!

I use one of those little clark 110 wire feeds with flux core, works nice for fenders and bodywork, nice beads are possible due to lower settings, gas shield would probably work better, but the flux core works for me.

I know there are much better welders but my $199 dollar Craftsman flux core works for me.

Best tool I ever bought! I really don't know how I got along without it.

I have a Mastercraft 100 amp stick welder, modified for a 110 volt circuit. Works well for me with 1/16" all position rod at about 70 amps. Yeah, I know, stick sucks for body work, but its great for tacking. But if you don't have a lot of experience in the welding field you'd better get a MIG with argon.

You can wish in one hand and crap in the other.
See which one gets filled first.

If your going for the long run,,,Millermatic XP130. You can pass it on to your grandkids. Runs on 110 and should cost around $750 with a full bottle.

May those who love us, love us, any of those who do not love us, may God turn their hearts.
And if God is unable to turn their hearts, may he turn their ankles so we may know them by their limping.

A man who works with his hands is a laborer; a man who works with his hands and his brain is a craftsman; but a man who works with his hands and his brain and his heart is an artist.
