Post master cylinder

is the master cylinder the same off of a power brake setup and a manual brake setup

they look the same to me

i got a booster, master cylinder, and all from the salvage yard, but i just recently replaced my master cylinder so i was wondering if the new one (for manual brakes) would work on the booster

tahnks ahead of time

Shouldn't be a problem. The only real difference is between 1/2 and 3/4 ton also between front drums and discs.

You can wish in one hand and crap in the other.
See which one gets filled first.

compare the two side by side, the piston end in the middle of the housing is supposed to be set in deeper or set out further than the other, am pretty sure its set in farther on manual cylinders than on power ones. putting manual cylinder on a booster would then have slack between the pushrod in the booster and the cylinder in the master cylinder
as least this is true in 67-70,

The internals should be different between manual,& power. (diff sized piston) They way i understand it,It takes a smaller dia piston to get the line pressure without the booster........69 longhorn.

I really don't know anything about these pickups, so you will have to excuse me...
So, if you replaced the master cylinder from a manual brake system and added a booster and new master cylinder, you would have power brakes? Is there anything to watch for such as drum brakes all the way around? Can you find this in a salvage yard?

ok maybe i need to tell you guys more.

i have a 3/4 ton 4x4 with disc in front drum in rear, manual brakes.

i took a master cylinder, booster, prop. valve, and push rod off of a 3/4 ton 2wd with disc front and drum rear.

when i hold the one with the booster on it next to mine on my truck they look identical.

do i need to take the master cylinders off to compare them?

will the rod from one fit in the other?

just didn't want to waste my time, i like to get everything ready because i live 20 miles from the nearest parts store.

thanks for the replies so far (i love this board)
