2wd "cheap" lift; 1 ton springs or coil spring spacer?

I might be getting a 1993 C1500 soon and would like to raise the front end to level the truck. I'm considering 1 1/4" Daystar coil spacers or buying new 3/4 or 1 ton front springs. (I can't afford a $600 3" lift kit) The front springs on the truck I've seen look like they've sagged a bit. (maybe up to an inch) I hear both will cause more ball joint and tie rod wear. What do y'all think would be better? Has anyone here been in a truck with coil spring spacers? Will the 1/2 ton springs feel like the 1 tons after the spacer anyway? Are there any advantages of having a 1/2 ton spring and coil spacer? (besides a small amount of extra lift)

Any advice would be appreciated!

I would advise not going to a 1 ton coil unless you are aways loaded. They are way too tough. I put 1 ton springs in my 84 and it's way to hard. 3/4 ton springs will be much better. Just stop by a spring shop and they wil get you taller spring with a decent spring rate. When you there you will need to get them compressed.

Uxbridge, I have cousins there!

I thought all 1/2 ton truck coil springs were the same height as other 1/2 ton coils. Are there actually taller 1/2 ton stock springs? (even 1/4" taller?)
It'd be nice to get a spring that's an inch (or more) taller than a stock truck.

I saw a truck book and it shows 3/4 ton and 1 ton front coils are both rated at a 4100 lb spring capacity, so I thought that meant they were the same spring.

So are changing the springs a better idea than 1 1/4" lift coil spacers? (I want the ground clearance but can't afford a 4x4)

The spring shops have coils lined up and the have weight rating for them all . you could just find a taller spring with a similar spring rate.

I would try the coil spring spacers. You might have to get the spring compressed so they will go back into the spring pocket. But that would be what I would try first.

I am also into the lifting 2 WD trucks. Cheeper on gas less parts to break and more pratical for the roads around here. I am going to pull the 1 ton springs and try a spacer and the old 3/4 ton springs.
