1973 Chevy truck question
I just recently got a 1973 Chevy Truck dealer brochure off of ebay, and on the cover is a Cheyenne Super 10 with woodgrain on the sides. I can almost swear that I saw a few of these when I was a kid, but I haven't seen any in years. Did Chevy actually install woodgrain on the upper trim level (Cheyenne) trucks in 1973? Maybe I'm getting older, but I think that it would look awesome on a slammed shortbed fleetside with the right color combination. My 73 Super has the woodgrain interior accents, and the exterior woodgrain would match nicely. Pass the Geritol!

My new 73 was originally a woody, theres no traces of it on the outside anymore, but on the inside of the door jambs and the doors there is still part of the woodgrain decal or whatever that was never removed.

This seems like a good place to see if I can get this scanner/picture thing to work...
This picture came from the 1973 GMC Pickups, Suburbans, and Cab & Chassis brochure. Anyway, the exterior woodgrain trim was not a standard feature of any of the trim packages that were available, despite the fact that it was so frequently displayed in the '73 and '74 Chev and GMC brochures. It was, however, available as a separate option- -coded YG2- -with all trim levels for Chevy and GMC Fleetside/Wideside pickups (from 1973 to 1975), and also for Blazers/Jimmys and Suburbans (from 1973 to 1980). The 1976 and later grain and appearance of the decal changed from the previous style. Ken Lewis |
