What did you get done...Easter edition

I was on call this weekend so I didn't get much done around the house. I did work in my yard some yesterday, but not near enough.

I worked on my pool some today. While cleaning pine needles out of the skimmer basket I found a baby turtle. From what I can tell he is a red eared slider, but I'm not sure.

Anyone one know much about turtles? I always had one around when I was a kid, but I kept box turtles. I have never had a water turtle before. My daughter has wanted one for a while now, so I guess she got her wish....

What did you get done?

well my truck got back from the shop and they put the tranny in it but of course when my son had it at school he lost pieces thank god i had extras here or the linkage would not be hooked up. I changed two of the u joints of the three on the driveshaft but i get a bad vibration over 20 mph so im thinking change the other one and the front one gave me problems too so im thinking that i may change that out again. i also changed the bearing on it too.
on saturday i had a couple of guys here from Ohio they bought my 76 so that is now history i got $425 for it so i was pretty happy. other than that nothing else was done truck related hope all had a good holiday

Got my 355 broken in, pulled the exhaust off my GMC, I got a nasty oil pan leak and I need to check the cam timing on the 355, so I'll need to pull it again (sitting on a rolling chassis).

While I have the 355 off, I plan to coat the frame with Zero Rust, and swap my cab over. I'm on spring break right now, so I have got a lot going on

Here is a sound clip of the 355, the ticking is very leaky headers :P They don't seal nearly as good as a set of manifolds without gaskets... Also, it has at least one dead cylinder due to a poor HEI cap, and a VERY nasty vac leak / aformentioned oil pan leak :P

Its broken in and didn't eat itself though! Lemme tell ya, breaking in on open headers wtih two dead cylinders is fun, the headers shoot flames a good 2 feet and turn cherry red, occasionally backfiring (louder than a shotgun, lol) becuase of the dead cylinders putting raw fuel in the exhaust (or in my case, lack of :P)

http://www.zieglerdigital.ca/downloads/355.wma

This is idling at 1000 rpm, then revving up to 2000. Stock 350 with a .030 overbore, and an XE262 comp cam running open headers

Worked Friday, Saturday, and am working Moday

I picked up some speakers for my Ford, and made a run to Home Depot for various things. Maybe I'll get two days off next weekend

I didn't do much on the truck other than change out the filters for the air breather and the crankcase. I finished up replacing the lower intake gasket on a 2000 Grand AM GT. From talking to a couple of mechanics and reading around, it seems like vehicles with these types of V6 engines are having trouble with the lower intake gasket leaking. (GM redesigned their lower intake gaskets, but does not plan to have a recall.)

My youngest brother had a box turtle growing up. One Fall day he 'lost' the turtle out in the yard. The following Spring after a cold Colorado Winter, he found it digging itself out of the garden's soil. There's a lot of information on the Net about pet turtles, like here. Cool find.

well, this weekend was rather interesting for me.

i got off early on Friday, went and drank a few beers, at some hot wings with some friends from work. came home about 1:00, and decided to tear into my 95 Grand Am to see if the timing chain was bad. sure enough... i've been trying to figure out why it wouldnt fire, compression was "good" @ 150 psi on all 4 cylinders, it was getting fuel and spark. took the timing cover off and discovered the exhaust camwas about 90* off. changed the chain, guides and gears, and it fired right up when i hit the key @ 8:00. i just bought a window regulator for it on EBay, and i have to buy an interior trim piece, and install a radio, then clean it up and it will be ready to sell.

got up Saturday morning around 10:00, my friend Erik was coming from Ill to pick up some parts. now my Dana 60 is gone, as is my 4.56 open 14FF, and my 40s. all i have to show for it is this piece of paper that says $2000.00 and has an autograph on it.

did the family thing today, and that's about it.

Cleaned up the backyard, dog poop and all! More fun than I should be allowed to have.
The weather is supposed to be warming up nice around here this week so it should motivate me to do something truck related.

HEY!!!! I actually did something this time!
I idled the carburetor down a full turn on the screw (well my dad did actually, but same difference). It had been screaming waay too high since we worked on it in january. Now its purring just about right. I'm in the process of finding a welder to weld in my rockers, and maybe even some other patch metal on the drip sill of the cab.

Disabled my '86 K10's ESC and replumbed the fuel pump. Took it for a 20-mile drive and everything seems OK...next up is adding a tach and checking the condition of the plugs & wires.

Drove 100 miles one way to my girlfriends house for her family reunion easter thing, had to hide 510 eggs for around 10 kids. My parents made me take our 2002 because my '83 is to " oud, crude, and just to powerfull" acourding to Dad. But cruise control is wonderful.
