Ok this is a little far fetched but then again so is my tranny issues

What I am trying to do is totally isolate my electrical system. Here is the plan.
Get a car battery and put it in the pass floorboard. Run a wire from the + termal to the switch, run a wire from the switch to the kickdown switch on the tranny. Go down the street and hit the button and release to see if it lets go or not. Now what about the ground? Where do I ground it? Do I need to? I know that this sounds a little crazy

but at this point I am willing to give it a shot.

Just run a ground from - post to any metal surface.

might not want to do that if you have another battery source hooked up too. just run a wire from the gound to the ground. doesnt even have to be a car battery. do you have any 12 volt drills around?

NO 12 volt drills but a 14.4. Would that do it?

If this is in regards to your TH400 with upshift/kickdown issue....you said the problem followed the trans into another vehicle. Sounds like that would isolate ANY issue with your truck. Trucks not the problem...trans builder or kit/parts used for rebuild is.

Just a thought, you may want to pickup a good book on the 400's so you can do more of your own research. Then you can question the trans builder in his own language. I have one: "How to work with and modify the Turbo Hydra-Matic 400 Transmission" by Motorbooks International writer Ron Sessions. It's done me very well.

It is in regards to the turbo 400. I did get a book on the 400s as well. I have a lot of pages with stickys on them. Today I gave up on that tranny shop. I am taking it to another place that a friend of mine recommended after I do a few things to it first.

Sure....just drill a few holes in some wood to drain it a little, then check it with a volt-meter (multi-meter) to make sure you are in the 11-13 volt range.

well if you check your alternator, it puts out 14.4 volts, so that would be fine

Test results are in.
Same thing happenning. So now I am postive its not electrical. Sorry guys but I had to know for myself.
