Hey guys i need some help,
i'm re-building my side vent window weatherstipping and all.I had my side vent window channel(the part that the window fits into w/a piece of rubber)chromed.The problem is when i installed the new glass and rubber, the glass slides right back out of the channel with little effort?? Seams like the rubber is not thick enough to hold the window tight enough.I bought the widow and rubber from LMC.Anybody have problems like that? I called LMC they said they took the same part #'s and tried it and it fit ok(yeah rite).Any help? Maybe i should try some other company if so any suggestions?

Maybe try some sort of windshield installation seal goop?

I am in the process of doing the same thing but I havent gotten around to buying that channel stuff yet.

I will move this to the 67-72 board so it gets more response since the vent windows are the same as pickups.

I would say use some sealer or silicone to hold it in place and keep it weather tight.

Rubber strips on the older trucks swell when oil is applied. Not sure if that applies to what you have or not.

LMC rubber is made in India, Go to your local glass shop and get the glass setting tape. It's around 1.50 a foot for the good stuff.

That glass setting tape is basically a urethane strip. Autozone / Advance / NAPA sells the stuff in rolls. I bought some about 13 years ago, still have most of the coil and it still seals well. I just used some the other day.

Just finished chromed vent windows with new rubber. I used weatherstrip glue. Works.
