lowering a gmc
ok, I was thinking that since i want to drop my truck and was thinking droping the front first so i would have the racked look, before going slammed.
Anyways i have a 305 v6 big block it's about 300lbs. heavier than a 350 well if i put some small block coil springs in how much drop would i get? also if i got 2" drop coils made for the sbc since i we'll be swaping in a 350 later would i be killing two birds w/ one stone so i won't have to get the drop coils later? also when i get ready(have the money) to lower the back. my gmc has leaf spring in the back and it has a spring over setup would a 73-87 flip kit work w/ what i have or would i have to swap in the 73-87 setup for the flip kit to work? jim

I know if you install a 350 in a GMC that had a V6 originally, the front end will be higher up with the heavy duty coil springs. If you did swap the front coils out with 2.5 drop springs, the front end will probably sit about another inch or so lower than the 2.5 coil spirngs probably. The rearend flip kit i'm not sure on, but one of the guys over in the suspension forum can anwer the rearend swap.

thanx, i was told to check out djmsuspension.com by beaterc10 over at the 73+ board, and djm has a flip kit made for 63-72 thats good for 5" that fits 2 1/4" springs only which mine are. also 73+ springs are 52" long mine are 51" so not sure if it would have worked or not. they have drop front coils and control arms so i'm going to save my money and get it all from djm at the same time. thanx for the info.
