chrome valve cover help
what do i need to do to prep the chrome so the paint will stay on them.never painted chrome but seen alot of it with paint flaking off.thanks

Sand blasting is the best, other wise scuff it up pretty good and use a good primer.

also, if you go the 'scuffing' route, i've heard spraying a VERY light mist coat and letting it dry before applying heavier coats will help the paint stick better. Seems to work for me, i've painted chrome mirrors, valve covers and an air cleaner with rattle cans using this method.

Use a good etching primer for a base or it will peel off. Be sure to blast it more than once in order to get a good surface for the primer to bite into. Harold
