plzzzz help
Hey guys. I am 18 years old and I am now in a bit of a delema. I am building my first project and it is a 1985 gmc high sierra, now so far i ahve done a body off restoration everything has been sandblasted paintes and replaced. It sits a couple of inches off the ground and I also had a 350 4 bolt main built for it. I just fired it up yesterday for the first time. Now my delema is the glove box. While I was taking the truck apart my dad friend was taking the glove box out and broke the plastic piece at the bottom off it that the bolts go into to hold it to the dash. Now it is all painted now so i ahve to switch over the insides of it, I have another inside that I want to change but i do not know how to take off the locking knob and the rest of it. I have asked many people how to do it but they just dont know and without knowing how to do this I will not be able to put the glovebox in. So if anyone out there knows how to take out the locking knob or whatever its called plzzz e mail me back anything will help. Thanks

you are both right. advance search under the 73-87 pickup message board with "glove lock" as the search words.

You have to push in this little tab to release the lock. The tab faces the inside of the glovebox and I believe the lock has to be in the closed position. I know somebody else can explain it a ton better than me.
When I got one off at the junkyard and went to pay, nobody there had ever seen one come off without breaking. |
