WTB 1968 Chevy Painted Mirror
It does not seem like the vendors carry this mirror. I would like to have one of them. They are 5 x 8.

I can't believe that someone does not have one of these. I will just keep recyling this until I find something.

67c10step, I have looked at the LMC and other vendors and those are not exact replicas of the original mirrors. I must have the original or an exact copy for a 100 pt. restoration. I know it is a PIA but that is what I need.
PURS, that is the one! I think 55454 has me covered though. I will let you know if it does not work out. THANKS GUYS!

Purs, Dang...it's not the right one! Notice the number of screws on the pivot bracket. Three instead of six on mine. The other feature is the mirror side of yours has a rubber gasket to keep the glass in place. It looked so close from your picture but definitely not the same. Thanks for the effort...I am STILL LOOKING...LOL!

Hey stllookn, I'm not 100% sure but wouldn't the correct mirror for your truck be the little round ones?
I hope you don't mind me hyjacking your post but according to the advertising lit I have, All the base mirrors on 68's have been the round ones, Usually painted white.

Tom, I have been trying to find the "RIGHT" information on this '68 Longhorn but it is like pulling teeth. I hope my restoration package arrives from GM soon! You might be correct since there was no mirror option on my build sheet.
I just looked through my '68 truck brochure (sure glad I forgot to give it to oldiron when he bought my '68 flatbed...LOL!) and it shows only West Coast Jr. mirrors and the little round ones...which I already have on my '67! Thanks for pointing out the obvious...DOH! Personally, I am glad they did not drill all those holes in the doors for the WCJr. mirrors...I am now installing the little round buggers on my existing pedestals....Whoooo hooooo! Thanks again for the help....A'll be baaaaack!

No problem Mike. I went through this with my truck a couple of years ago. Mine had a couple of chrome 5X7 mirrors similar to yours and I wanted to go back to stock. I found a good used one and a NOS one on ebay to replace mine.
I see why people went with larger mirrors on the standard arms. The little round ones are not that great especially when they shake a lot.

Mark...is that right? If it is...it will be on the way. I am going to the stock little round ones since that is in the restoration manual and the '68 brochure. I think I still have your address. Any luck on the tailgate (hoping beyond reason here...LOL!).

What about these? Any idea if they are off of our trucks? It looks to be the same style mirror, just different stand. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

squid, Turn the mirror over and take a picture so I can see the edge of the glass. If there is no rubber moulding around the glass then they will be the same, only stainless and...like you say...different bases. Are they 5 x 8 inch?

That is the one. It is an after-market unit from the period of the trucks. I am doing a PURE stock restoration of the Longhorn and will have to use the little round mirrors that are nearly impossible to see out of, but that is what the truck came with. If you are interested in selling those mirrors you might want to post a price. I think they are much nicer than the newer style stainless mirrors that have the big rubber grommet around the edge. You might want to keep them too, knowing that they are unique.
