WTB-Throttle Body for my 87

like the title says, i need the throttle body for my 87 with the 305....my throttle body spring is sooo damn tight, its gettin on my nerves...

need one that moves alittle more easily.....

(i got to mash on the gas to get it to go...its not like a carb set up where you can pull the throttle return spring some to get a softer pedal, this spring is internal)

can you use one from a 350? i have a friend that tore down an 87 TBI 350 and the throttle body is just sittin in the back of his outbuilding. lemme know if you can use it and ill hook ya up!

i'm thinkin there the same, except for the size of the injectors....does anyone know this for sure?

i'm pretty sure there the same...(but not 100%)

Same throttle body, different injector size. If memory serves me correctly it was 18lb @ 36PSI for the 305 and 24lb @ 43.5 PSI for the 350

Kumar, Mike broke several throttle cables and two gas pedals in that truck . is the throttle body the ONLY reason why ? DAVE

I had a truck that had the same symptoms as yours .I cleaned the inside of the throttle body and found out that it was just the throttle blades sticking . On another truck I had to lubricate the inside of the throttle cable . I had to disconnect it and stretch it so that the lube ran down the inside of the cable . Just something to check if you havent already . Frank

yeah, i'm pretty sure....it needed a tune up real bad, but it now runs like a smacked ape! (well, a tired 305 smacked ape )

it just acts like (in a carbeurated motor) the throttle return spring is too tight......i'm sure that the return spring is internal, so there's not much to do with adjusting it (at least i dont think so)

i'd like to try another tbi, to try and see if that cures it

i just now read the whole post you wrote (didnt see it all before)

he broke several throttle cables?...how the heck is that accomplished????

...and two gas pedals?...geeesh....it aint all that stiff

i got it lowered now, with 3:42 posi rear

...but, ya got to remember though...."mike" didnt even know where the rocker panels were...so he's not too "mechanically inclined"...i'd imagine some mechanic somewhere could have easily persuaded him into buying pedals, and cables... ...maybe even some "canadian air" for his tires

No I didn't persuade him---- he asked me for one when his broke. I had recently parted out two K5's and always seem to have what he needed and delivered to work for Cheap$$ . i know he bought one cable from me and two gas pedals and put another gas pedal in it from a boneyard right before you got it.

those 3.42's make a big difference to those 305's . Mike was tough on the $$ for the truck. it KILLED him to put that $$ engine in ,but was pretty faithful after that. He just had work done from a local guy to the front brakes also.

Find me a 73-74 -75 1/2 ton for way cheap will ya. DAVE

just passed on a 75 1/2 ton last week....$400.....complete with a 350 and all.....had a perfect front end...and i mean perfect

i didnt know he "jewed" you into workin on the truck ....he was tight wasnt he?
