Wrong valves came, 1/2 vs 3/8, what to do?

Well...about 2 months ago I ordered most of my air bag components from Suicide Doors. It all came and I looked it over and everything looked great. Well, this weekend I pulled it all out and I have 1/2" valves. I had wanted 3/8" valves. I checked my order form and the prices reflect 3/8" valves but the description says 1/2" valves. Must have been a tweak in their computer system, I hope they didn't send a lot of the 1/2" valves out for the 3/8" price
Anyway, what should I do? Either way I am calling Suicide Doors. Should I keep the 1/2" and offer to pay the difference, or should I send the 1/2" back and get 3/8"?
I really want a decent truck, drivability is my main concern. I am afraid that I won't have enough control with the 1/2" valves.
What do you think?

Keep them. Even with 3/8's it would be fast. Just put a reducer on your exhaust valve and you will be fine. It will come up fast but you can put smaller lines if you really want it slower.

what he said, i know sd was running a special on the e-valves if that's what you have they were 1/2 inch valves at 3/8 price so maybe that's why you got 1/2, personally i like the 1/2 better....

Hey,at least you got yours, all I have gotten so far is lame excuses. I'm at close to 2 months myself. I'll be pissed if they send me the wrong ones too. Guess I'll keep the 1/2" line they shipped me just in case.

Alright guys flame on.

Wow, I haven't heard many bad things. When I ordered mine I could never get through on the phones but I hear that is better. Mine came timely, and everything seemed OK, and at least they sent bigger instead of smaller.
I hope you get yours soon!

If you decide to get rid of them, let me know ... we may be able to work something out ... I am looking for 4 - 1/2" valves for the fill side ... I have 4 - 3/8" for the dump side now.

Yep, after 2 months and several emails the valves finally got here and not only are they the wrong size (1/2") one of them is DOA. I emailed Eric@***************** to see where they stand on this, I'll keep yall posted on their reply and actions.

I was ready to place another order for more line dump side valves and fittings, strictly due to their excellent pricing, but I'll be looking elsewhere I think.

I called them and had planned to send mine back, but after hearing all of these horror stories I am having second thoughts. I will call them tomorrow and figure out exactly what I am going to do.

Man, keep 'em (after testing) and just bush them down to 3/8", unless you have 2 months to wait for the replacements.

I personally would keep em'. I have 1/2" fills & 1/2" dumps on mine. I am running 5/8" hardline to the fills and I have the dumps bushed down to 1/4". My truck is fast goin' up and nice and controlable on the way down.

This is the first time I've ever heard of issues with SD. I know that Jason will stand behind his stuff. Call him up and see what he can do for you. Also, you can't really blame SD if the stuff is being dropshipped from the manufacturer. Once he calls/faxes the order in, he is at their mercy just as much as you are.

Yes I can, I paid for 3/8" valves, which his website screwed up on, 2.5 months ago which is way too damn long of a wait. I have emailed them several times, and the "tested" valves show up with 1 of 4 being totally non-op out of the box. I sent SD my money and therefore they are responsible until I am satisfied, not their vendor. They never informed me that I was looking at a 2.5 month delay, nor did they refuse my order or money due to a lack of product, and SD website states the valves are fully tested directly before shipment.

I have been in phone contact with them, they are sending out another 1/2" valve to replace the bad one, however they could not replace all the valves with the 3/8" I ordered. They were putting the back orders first not the screw ups or non-ops. That is poor business practice in my book.
So they have kind half-assed made it good. At least I will have a set of functional valves even if they are the wrong port size.

I understand they started small and have grown like wildfire, taking them by surprise. The quality of the parts I have received is next to none, and they came very highly reccomended by the board. I have given them a lot of leeway because of this.

I don't want and can't use a fast setup because I am incorporating a computer control into this setup. It is my final project for my Digital Systems course at school.

The program and hardware are designed to sample the pressure at all four corners every 20 seconds and either air up or down the bag to maintain a user defined pressure setting. This cannot be done smoothly with a "fast" valve. I will just bush them down and I already had planned on using an accumulator on each corner as well. The system will also auto level the truck when it is loaded, and will incorporate a remote kneel and rise function to assist in trailer hook-up. Again a fast setup would not be feasable here either.

To make a long story short, they are half heartedly making it as good as they can. They will replace your 1/2" valves with the 3/8" you ordered if you are willing to wait until they fill all their back orders.

Any ways 'nuff said on this. Finals are next week and I am really stressed and very pissy (according to the wife) .

Yall have a good day

Hey Bigred66 did you ever get yours, if so were they the right size?

Yes got them I got my first 4 - 3/8 in the first 4 or 5 days after ordering. I was waiting on my 4 - 1/2 I got then last week I had ordered them around my birthday (April 2nd). I had no problems with SD they explained everything to me and I was cool with it. But I was not really waiting on them had a million other things to do. Later man some day I will get mine bagged. I am predicting winter of 2009 LOL

Cool, I wish they had explained it to me, all I got was "it'll be a few more days" I probably would have been a little more understanding.

2009? LOL we'll be puttin' in hover kits by then

I'm hoping to get the basics done this summer. And all the electronics during next school year.

Well back to studyin'
