hood springs????????

What would cause my hood to not close fluss on one side? Would it be from a weak spring or what? Also how can I fill the vents in the cowl panel? I'm a cheap a$$ so I tend to do as much as I can.

I have heard that the if the hinges are worn it can cause the hood not to close flush. Don't know if this is correct though. There is some adjusting you can do to the hinges, just mark the current location with a sharpee before you move them in case it doesn't work right.

I can't help you with filling the cowl vents but, just because you do the work yourself, doesn't mean your cheap. I have a hard time paying someone to do something I can do myself.

Mine did the same thing when I first got my truck. I found the cause for mine was that one hinge was moving more freely than the other causing it to stick up on one side. After taking them off and oiling them up real good, that fixed the problem.

You can gauge the wear on your hindges by looking down the hindge from the front,it should be strait in line and not pulling with the tension of the spring to the inside toward the engine.


Losen the bolts on the fender to make this adjustment,you may be able to take some play out even if your hindge is worn out.

on the trying to fill in the cowl panel im not sure cause i havent did it before but heres what i think. when the factory put the holes in they didnt cut a perfect hole but cut it and bent the edges under so i dont see why you couldnt bend the tabs back around and then weld up the rest. the tabs wont close it up all the way though. with a little grinding, body filler and some sanding it shouldnt look bad. you could also try getting some metal and cutting small strips and weld all them in.
