Exclamation Anyone ordered from the Truckshop in Orange, CA?

I just received a catalog from www.truckandcarshop.com out of orange california. They have some good prices on some items and about normal on others.

Has anyone used this company? Their parts quality? Just one example lower black moulding for a long bed including clips is $249.00 plus shipping of course.

Please respond if you know anything about this company, Thanks everyone.

When I do mail order I buy from the guys that support the board. Having said that the Car and Truck shop is at the Portland swap meet every year with good prices and it saves on shipping charges. Most of the stuff is OK. No problems with a GMC grill or front and rear bumper kits. I did buy a tach dash conversion from them a few years ago and the tach just started acting up. I hate the prospect of having to rip my dash apart again just to see if I can fix the thing. My guess it would have been the same no matter where I bought it. My advice is to use their catalog then contact one of the vendors that support this board. GMC Pauls etc. are all great guys and really know their stuff.

Their rubber products are not UV stable and will deteriorate within 6 months. Their emissions stickers are full of typos, their heater knobs are way off as are their brake pedal rubber pads. Oh ya if you order something and they back order it, stay on their asses or you won't receive it. This is first hand experience, not hype or second hand info.

Maybe I just had a bad experience with them but I will stick with the board vendors here, they all seem to be stand up guys.

I bought a Windshield Rubber from them and it was the biggest Mistake I ever did. It has shrunk and actually doesn't fit. I live in So. Cal and this was the Temp. yesterday-Sunday 05/22/05 111.8°F. So I would suggest not buying anything rubber from the Truck Shop in Orange Ca.

The anti-rattles and side window rubber are middle manned by Truck Shop and are holding up fine, My windshield rubber and rear window rubber are LMC. The door handle and lock gaskets, as well as the fuel neck grommet are all Truck Shop and are falling apart rapidly (9 months old). I will be replacing them this summer. The fuel filler grommet leaves black runs down the side of Screamin, kinda pisses me off. Oh well, just my personal experience.

I've bought LOTS of parts from them but it’s been a couple years ago. No problem with any of the parts. I don’t like their sheet metal and the guys manning the Pleasanton show are JERKS but the prices are good
Just my 2c

They offer great show prices.Their sheetmetal is from Counterpart. All dealers are middlemen selling, basically, the same stuff with a few exceptions. So it comes down to a few differences in quality, some better on some things and worse on others. The big diff is service and treatment. As said, you can truly trust the Board Supporting Venders as they are one of us.I`m new to the board but not these trucks.I find the "big guys" are the Walmarts of this industry. You can get some good deals, but watch the quality.Assume nothing and ask alot, like you`re doing.Good Luck.

I picked up their $10.00 catalog at Pomona for free and when I got home I noticed their fender and quarter emblems were gonna cost me over $300.00 for what I wanted. So I never ordered from them, but the their guys were nice and seemed knowlegeable. I bought my rubbers from the guy a few aisles over that sells in bulk.

I recently bought a steering wheel (they were the only place I could find a new 68 style wheel) and horn button and horn connection kit. The wheel and parts are nice, the customer service was horrible. I tried to get the tracking # when they shipped my order, so I could keep up with it on the net and they would not give it to me, which I thought was silly. They were rude over the phone. I won't order from them again unless I can't find the part anywhere else.

Bought some parts from them , they are within driving distance from me never had a problem with anything .
I had to buy some molding clips from them awhile back because the ones I got with the side molding I bought off a board vendor were all junk and the springs would break .

I've had an experience with them at Carlisle where a couple of the board vendors also set up shop. Here's my conclusions:

1. The all pretty much carry the same parts from the same suppliers with a few exceptions.
2. The Orange County Truck Shop guys were rude and obnoxious. I suppose it's because they get paid little and are commissioned and feel the need to extract some entertainment thru attitude. They certainly didn't want to answer questions unless your wallet was opened. I have not dealt with the storefront people however, so this may be a swap meet phenom. To the contrary, both Bill Athey and GMCPauls were cordial and helpful. They were interested in your project not just your money and I'd bet they'd remember you if you had a problem down the road.
3. By and large the Truck Shops prices were slightly lower, albiet negligible for the items I was looking for.

So, I've made this point before to the shagrin of some. You get what you pay for. If price is your overriding factor then The Truck Shop is for you. If you expect customer service, and a reasonable person would if they had paid a premium price, steer clear. Once the sale is rung up, these clowns didn't care.

thanks to everyone for the replies.

as i check on parts, i am finding that many vendors handle the same parts.

even with their lower prices, i probably would not save much by the time i pay additional handling from CA to MS.

customer service is worth every penny that is added to the price of an item,
regardless of the situation.

I bought a couple sport mirrors from them at the Portland swap meet. They seem pretty good, but I would agree. Support the vendors on the board first.
